Format: Hardcover
This sweet little story follows the lives of four collie puppies as they explore the world around them through the four seasons.
It's great for exploring the concepts of the seasons, growing up, not being afraid of changes, and more. It's really a great little book.
As a child I loved this book. I'm disappointed that it's out of print - I'd love to get a copy for my own children.

I had this lovely Golden Book when I taught elementary school . Besides being a collie fancier and owner of these lovely dogs, I was able, through this story,to teach in a meaningful way, the 4 seasons of the year. I lost track of the book when I retired 7 years ago. I know it's in storage, where I don't know. So I looked it up and voila, found it. I paid way too much( nearly$ 50.00) . But I now have it. Not everyone would pay that outrageous price but to me , I didn't care. Too expensive , is the word of the day!

I read this book to all three of my own children, who loved this book. Sadly it was misplaced, so I reordered it on Amazon two years ago to read to my kindergarten class, and made all types of worksheets to go along with the story. The little puppies grow up as they learn about the different aspects of the changing seasons. It was the first and only fun book about seasons geared toward younger kids. I am now a grandmother, and wanted to order one or two more to give them as gifts.

I loved this story as a child and I still like it today. It tells about four puppies experiencing the changes of the seasons for the first time. With every change, they mourn the loss of the previous season, and then learn to find good in the new season. When the cycle has come full circle, they realize they have changed too, by getting bigger. Great illustrations and great story for kids.

This was one of about 50 Little Golden Books that my parents read to me NIGHTLY. We have always joked about the "silly billies" who cried when the leaves fell from the trees. I am now 55 years old. I sent BOTH of my parents a copy of this book. They LOVED the sentimental SURPRISE. What's funny is, I have a habit of calling MY precious dogs " Silly Billies"

I have this 1st edition. My sons are now in their early 30s & they really loved this book when they were small. They requested it so much that I seriously considered telling them it got lost because I did get tired of reading it so much, but I didn't have the heart. It's really a great little book & one that I've kept all these years for the sentimental value.

I ordered the book to use in decorating a table for a baby shower (theme: favorite children's books). It was terrific as a centerpiece on the table, and then as a gift for the baby and family. I was glad the "used" book was available, since new ones are REALLY expensive! The book arrived in plenty of time and was in good enough condition.

Awesome book, and allows one to see that holding on to the present is impossible and fraught with disappointment.
This book is for all ages if you ask me, and one can reflect on how much they are like the puppies at times.
The Squirrel is wise, and teaches the puppies to welcome change.
Truly a great lesson for all ages.
