2.0 out of 5 stars Mixed blessing...
The author presents some incredibly useful laws (i.e. tithing, goal setting, forgiveness and fulfilling your purpose) which will indeed be transformational. The reason they are transformational is that they were established by God and are all biblical concepts. And although Gaines makes the point that real prosperity goes well beyond financial blessings (certainly...

5.0 out of 5 stars I Am a Woman of Power, May 27, 2006
And, that is how Edwene Gaines begins her introduction to teaching her readers to let their light shine so brightly before everyone who they contact.

Law One: Tithe

When I read in this book, "... tithing is the prosperity principle that tends to bring up the most resistance in people," I could almost hear so many others say, "Every church wants you to keep paying and paying to make the the preachers rich."

Yet, if those same people were to read the explanation that Edwene Gaines has for tithing, they would understand, accept and appreciate that to tithe ten percent of your earnings is giving back to whomever or whatever has given you spiritual food.

This isn't a donation, or a way to control anyone else - it's just a recognition that there is always more, and that your source comes from God.

Law Two: Set Goals

As I read this chapter, I was amazed of the dreams that I had, starting with my falling into a beautiful, clear, crisp ocean, and rising back up in due time.

When I awoke the next morning, I was more relaxed , than I had been in a very long time.

And I was truly moved by a quote in this section of the book, "Successs is built through a willingness to play in an increasingly larger and larger arena."

Law Three: Forgive

Ms. Gaines say's "...unwillingness to forgive is like stabbing ourselves with a knife and expecting the person who did us wrong to feel the pain."

What a great analogy about forgiving.

In my life time commitment to endlessly grow, particularly at the beginning of my having made this commitment,in 1989, I have been writing emotional map letters, where I typed the worst to the best about what I experienced with anyone in my life.

The more that I knew the person, the more details that I wrote.

And after writing over 250 of those letters, which of course included forgiveness, and my writing their response, I developed a sort of quiet power within my life, that has given me strength beyond my wildest dreams.

Yet, reading the chapter on forgiveness within this book, I clearly see another great tool that I must use to forgive - it's the rewriting what happened from the perspective of all the opportunities that I have as a result of the experiences that I had, that I hadn't wanted to have.

I also enjoy the question that Ms. Gaines asks her readers to ask themselves, "Have I put anyone outside of my heart today?"

Law Four: Divine Purpose

February 18, 1999, the morning that I literally woke up saying to myself, "Okay. Now I know my life's mission. How could it be anything else?" was a day like none other.

I had been searching for my mission since 1989, but found it at the point of great material loss, while also realizating that my family role versus who I had evolved into meant another huge change of acceptance, surrender and goodbye.

My life mission is "To guide women and girls to earn trust in themselves."

When I first asserted this, online and in person, strangers whose belief systems that did not fit into what I had in mind contacted me in droves.

What I meant and still mean by this mission is that when we let go of the "No compete, no outdo, and gonad alert," we stop holding one another back, stop blaming men for what we lack, and we give men permission to process their emotions, while they remain men.

Rarely do I want to stay up late to read a book, even though I really love reading - Ifeeling focused is better, but this is one book that because of Ms. Gaines' lessons, her humor, and her willingness to be humble in telling her history, I wanted to read through the night.

And, I know that I will reread this book, to check in with my commitment to elevate my life to one of faith, love, risk, integrity, commitment, persistence, gratitude, passion, and discipline.

5.0 out of 5 stars An exceptional book that changes your life if you believe it, October 30, 2005
I just have one thing to say that God sends Edwene Gaines on this earth just to write this book to help desperate people who work hard all their lives and still can't make their ends meet. I am one of those people. It was a miracle when i saw this book at Borders on 9/11/05. I was so dumbfounded when i realized this is the answer i've been searching for so long. It's been almost 2 months since I start using the technique in this book. And the result is unbelievable. I got a raise from my work, I got a unexpected refund check from insurance company, and some other things. I know it's a bit early to say, but i believe it's gonna work. Anyway,i love this book so much i recommend it to anyone and suggest you give it a try

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun and Fulfilling, July 17, 2006

This book is inspirational, motivational and dead on with it's very clear, concise action plan. Having read Catherine Ponder, Eric Butterworth, etc., I'd recommend this one above the others.

In today's language and very down-to-earth style, Edwene walks you through what it takes to get out of poverty consciousness and into true abundance. And like attracts like-- as we become more positive, we attract more positive things, people, situations and rewards in our lives. It is the science of the self-fulfilling prophesy. You get what you expect... so how do you learn to expect something different? Edwene provides a clear plan on the "how" as well as the "why".

Her approach is wonderful, and what's more, this is a fun read. You'll look forward to sitting down and sharing a cup of coffee with Edwene, and you'll get loads out of the conversation!

Enjoy & May you go forth & Prosper!

5.0 out of 5 stars This was the book I've been looking for!, November 7, 2007
For almost 20 years I've been struggling with my relationship to money. Part of me didn't want it (I saw poverty as more spiritual and more ethical) and part of me hated being without it. Not having choices and struggling because of my lack of money have been really hurtful and constraining. It also created great anxieties. There are quite a few things I'd been planning to get around to some day that I had not yet done.

I worked on these problems through every method anyone suggested - spiritually, psychologically, practically. Still, I had no significant shift UNTIL I READ THIS BOOK. Edwene Gaines has written a beauty of a book. It is the perfect book for me. She outlines no "program," has no endless worksheets, she simply lays out the four most basic spiritual prinicples and walks us through how to apply them to life.

Now I know why I could never experience a shift in my relationship to money - firstI had to start tithing. I love it that she starts with tithing and makes it very clear that we must do this first, not when we think can afford to. Through Edwene's book I saw clearly that I can't afford not to. This was a key for me to beginning.

The rest of the book flows beautifully from there. Following these simple prinicples in my life is easy. I'm no longer conflicted about money. I'm no longer anxious. And I have an openness that I did not know was possible. I recommend this book to anyone who wants a better relationship with money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Read It - Do It, June 16, 2006
As the saying goes: "when the student (pupil) is ready, the teacher will appear". After years of reading books about self-healing, self-directing, and building meaningful life, this "little" volume did the trick for me. It made me take real steps towards goals I have longed for for years. Mrs. Gaines (what a name!)strips the message to its bare bones, and best of all she IS VERY PRACTICAL, VERY! Whether I will get all she promises in the book or not is beside the point since I've already got through the main obstacle, i.e. - unstuck myself from old fixed patterns that held me for long long time. And that's worth $11.50 isn't it?
It may be that different books effect different people, what got me moving was her no nonsense style and practicality, steep in unwavering trust and faith that we can do it and, it is contegious!

5.0 out of 5 stars Edwene Rocks!, January 30, 2006

(REAL NAME)
I was introduced to Edwene Gaines prosperity principles several years ago and have been a fan ever since. I enjoy Edwene's lessons so much that after attending one of her seminars, I purchased her entire collection of inspirational cd's.

I was absolutely thrilled to learn that these prosperity principles were available in print and in addition to my copy, purchased several copies for my church, Unity of Greater Lansing. Edwene's descriptions of these powerful life changing principles are every bit as delightful to read as they are to listen to!

My personal first year experience with applying the Four Spiritual Laws of Prosperity to my daily life is a 50% increase in net income. And as icing on the cake, I have experienced increased abundance in every facet of my life!

It is my intention to join Edwene on her journey to change the prosperity consciousness of planet earth. Since you have come this far, you are obviously looking for change in your life. Not everyone I have enthusiastically tried to share these tools with has been receptive. I have come to realize that the reader/listener must be ready and willing to accept increased abundance before recognizing the benefits of these spiritual laws. I encourage you to read this book and see if this is yours to do as well!

Edwene Gaines does a wonderful job sharing personal stories to illustrate where we all seem to start and how applying the principles of prosperity allow us to choose another path. Her book is easy to read and is an even easier "do-it-yourself" kit for bringing prosperity into your life. 5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Guide to Living a Life of Abundance, October 8, 2005
Having experienced Edwene Gaines in person and found her to be a dynamic and motivational speaker, I was happy to see that her book reads much like her seminar and is filled with her own stories of how she applied these spiritual principles. Anyone who is trying to prosper by working hard or coming up with gimicks to make money needs to read this book. It is more about what is going on inside of us than what is going on in the world. I highly recommend this book!
