Spanning four studio albums, remixes, and outstanding live shows amongst many other things, Kieran Hebden’s career remains rooted in all kinds of musical camps. In the past couple of years Four Tet has released his fourth album “Everything Ecstatic”, a DVD of music videos working with directors/artists such as Woof Wan Bau and Jason Evans, a DJ Kicks compilation as part of ... Editorial Reviews

A 32-minute, four-track excursion into the kind of wide-open spaces you might find if you set out to make techno with an Afro-beat / krautrock sensibility. These are tracks that make you think of Berlin - Dakar - Detroit - but they could only have been made in London. All four are headphone epics, but are mixed in such a way you have to hear them at Plastic People or The End. "Ringer" carries that minimal pulse over into Four Tet, and while Kieran Hebden's trademark recuttings of jazz breaks may be less in evidence, his feel for harmony and melody is, as always, unmistakable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Give it another listen! July 5, 2009
Format:Audio CD
This record is a grower. I was ambivalent about it the first time, now I love it. "Ringer" in particular - it's a bit like Rhythm is Rhythm's "Strings of Life", not in its sound, but in its extraordinary restraint. The moment when the live drum set kicks in is just astonishing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Relax a Bit March 12, 2009
Format:Audio CD
I enjoy this little CD, but not because I'm listening intently to find something, or catch some Four Tet similarity to anything. What is 'Techno' anymore, anyway? This EP is excellent listening to view the world, from your car window or bicycle or the Metro on the way home.

2.0 out of 5 stars Get Out Your Glow Sticks June 3, 2008
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I wish I had listened to this album before I had bought it. I'm a pretty big Four tet fan, and I didn't think I needed to listen to Ringer to ease my fears of not liking it. That was a mistake.

This album is straight techno. I'm not saying that techno is bad, but it's not what Keiren is known for, or what he excels at. It's incredibly repetitive, and minimalistic.

If your into the techno scene, you may like this. If your checking out Four tet for the first time you may want to check out Rounds or Everything Ecstatic. Lastly, if your a Four tet fan, beware.
