Book Description

When Natalie Spencer loses both her career and marriage in the same morning, the emotional shock sends her on a spontaneous journey to England. There, she is nearly mugged in a Tube station, but an introverted songwriter named Gavin Ashby scares off her attackers. Recognizing Natalie’s fragile state, Gavin offers help and invites her to recuperate from her trauma at his country home.

As she adjusts to her new role and surroundings, Natalie finds healing by helping others. Gavin and his family begin to accept Natalie into their hearts, leading her to a choice…abandon her old life in the States and trust in a new chance at love, or flee once again?

5.0 out of 5 stars What a Journey! June 29, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I just finished 4000 Miles. If you're looking for a gentle romance that will sweep you off to another country, this is it. The author has drawn interesting characters who keep your interest. You want to know what is going to happen to them.

Ryan's gift for description is wonderful. She shows you the English countryside in a way that makes you feel right at home, wishing you could be there in person. Her heroine is intelligent, vulnerable at all the right times, and strong when she needs to be. Natalie is someone we all want to identify with. Gavin is the guy every woman hopes to meet; sensitive, gentle and loving.

The story flows at a good pace. You have time to get comfortable in Kent just as Natalie does. Misunderstandings occur at the worst times, as they tend to do in fragile new relationships. I don't want to give anything away because I really enjoyed the journey in this book. I want you to enjoy it, too. Read 4000 Miles.

5.0 out of 5 stars Looking for a great summer read? May 25, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Then look no further! This is a great book to relax with on a lazy summer day - or curl up with on a cozy winter's night, too! Natalie's life falls apart and she runs off to London to get away and think. When she runs into a spot of trouble, she meets Gavin who offers her the chance to regroup and plan at his family's B&B. But she finds life never lets you take it easy for long.

I really enjoyed this story. I found the characters engaging and real. They made mistakes, had flaws, and yet were likeable and genuine. The romance is well handled, and I really wanted to see how things would work out for Natalie. I laughed, I cried, I recommended it to my family and friends!

A great start for a this author! Can't wait to see what she does next...

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant debut novel! May 25, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I absolutely loved "Four Thousand Miles." Natalie is instantly relatable, in that she's your average working girl, just laid off in the bad economy, just like so many other people in this country. She has a very real attitude, and as you watch her life fall apart in one morning, you instantly feel sorry for her. From that moment on, you want to know how she's going to handle it, what is going to happen next as she goes on this journey to sort her new life out. She flies away to England, almost literally stumbles upon a handsome British bloke with issues of his own, and at this point, you are totally sucked in. I honestly couldn't stop reading, and as the book was on my computer screen, that's saying something.

This book is well-written, engaging, funny, and tragic all at the same time. The romance is executed brilliantly, and I loved all of the characters, and the development of the relationships between Natalie and the people of Kent.

I highly recommend this to anyone who feels like their life is falling apart, loves England, loves Romance or Chick Lit, and/or small towns.

I can't wait to read more by Jesi Lea Ryan!! This was a fabulous debut novel.
