the first song i heard by this band was "This years most open heartbreak" and i thought it was great. little did i know of the extent of this fantastic EP, the lyrical content really is amazing almost rivalling Thursday in that department, the drumming and guitar playing is truly amazing; deep and varied layers make up completely original riffs while the melodic yet intense vocals break the emotional and heartfelt screams. Every song is completely unique so i thought i'd give a brief description of each of the four tracks:

1) This years most open heartbreak:8/10: this really is a great song. it begins with fast hard hitting guitar/drum work and frantic screaming then as the guitars soar the melodic sound of the lead singer breaks through in the chorus. the song ends in an amazing bridge that will have you chanting "we will never be the same, the same old songs on a brand new stereo."

2) she drove me to daytime TV:10/10: again an amazing song that seems on a lighter more catchy side but still encompasses the hardcore screaming and excellent fast paced guitar work of the first track. The singing in this track really did blow me away;
"so turn your camera away from meee, spill your guts in 8mm"....amazing. probably my second favourite track on the album.

3) kiss and make up (all bets are off):9/10:yet another fantastic track which seems slightly popier than the others but is still powerful. An excellent track over all.

4) Escape artists never die:10/10: Definately the best track on the whole EP and possibly one of the best songs i have ever heard. This is an epic, powerful, amazing track it is both heavy and melodic with absolutely fantastic lyrics. "the red poison of your lips, the red poison of your eyes is where i kiss the blood from" is the opening lyrics and they just get better. The bridge of the song is absolutle musical brilliance "please some one help me, i'm dying here in front of you. please someone help me i'm dying here in front of you. with a hundred thousand lights timing is every thing, timing is everything to me." This song really is amazing, so good infact that i can't find the words to describe it to even a tenth of its true greatness.

If you like thursday or boy sets fire or are just a lover of powerful, original and fantastic music then buy this album now. I promise you won't regret it.

a heard aabout funeral for a friend of a mate who recomended them to when a said i liked the lost profets, so i brought this EP and it's got everything that the lostprofets have and more, i really want to see them live, the sound quality is really clean on the EP. the only probelm with it is that it might be over perfected, they need to hit a couple wrong note to give a more real image.

Well Welsh actually, hailing from some small town near to where the Lost Prophets formed. Anyway, they are quite simply the best British band at the moment, and probably will be for quite sometime. All 4 tracks are catchy, memorable and leagues ahead of the bog standard emo/ screamo/ post hardcore/ whatever, that i tend to hear everyday. The best is probably 'Escape Artists Never Die' just because of the relentless pace but not one of the tracks will disappoint. If you like this kind of music then i strongly recommend the album 'Casually Dressed And Deep In Conversation' by FFAF, cos its stunning and worth your hard earned cash just for the track, 'Bend Your Arms To Look Like Wings'.
