About the Author
Thomas Ball was born in Boston, Massachusetts. He has many significant historic sculptures in the United States, including the large George Washington Equestrian in Boston's Public Garden. He traveled to Italy in 1854 to join the American Art Colony, and was teacher to artists Daniel Chester French, William Couper, Preston Powers, Anne Whitney, and Frances Alexander, among others.
