This adorable story, which has intricatly detailed drawings, is certain to enthrall both adults and young readers. It is a perfect gift for youngsters under age 5 - a book of which children and adults don't seem to tire. Our daughters first read this book nearly 30 years ago, and they still have their original copy, which is now tattered with age and use; it was a dearly loved book.

When I was a child, my mother would ask me once or twice a year to go through my stuff and get rid of any old toys or books that I wasn't interested in anymore. No matter how many times I down-sized my book collection, I couldnt bear to part with, "The Fourteen Bears in Summer and Winter." I loved it's characters, and I especially loved the beautiful illustrations. I could stare at the same two pages of my open book for what seemed like hours! I would always notice something in the illustrations that I hadn't noticed before. It was magical! In my twenties, I remember searching eBay to get another copy for my own daughter. No luck. Amazon said it was out-of-print. I was really amazed that such an awesome book was no longer available! Every child NEEDS THIS BOOK! Now, finally, it has returned. I have THREE children now, and am excited to present my three-year-old son this book for his birthday. I still have my own copy, but I keep it high up on the shelf like a prized trophy. If I had to get rid of my entire book collection, except for one. I think I would keep this book.

I had been searching for this book for over 5 years. I was overjoyed when I found out it was being re-released, and in perfect timing, I just had my first daughter. I look forward to reading and rereading it to her for years to come. The illustrations in this book are magical.

This book, which I own in its original printing, was my absolute favorite book throughout my childhood. It is kept in a place of honor in my home, and my five children know they may NOT touch it without Mommy to read it to them.

So, imagine my excitement that Golden has reprinted this gem! I'm getting five copies, one for each of my kids, in hopes that they save it for their children. They all love it as much as I do.

The detailed illustrations gave me hours of pleasure to pore over when I was a child, and as an adult, I STILL enjoy them. My children each have a favorite bear, and they love identifying their favorites as they move from page to page.

If you never buy another children's book, buy THIS one. It's simply wonderful.

This is by far the best children's book around. I have waited years for a reissue. I love the book and am so glad to be getting another. I can't wait to share this with my own children.

As a child I received my large hardcover edition and loved it. Maybe love doesn't even cover it. As a kid I read and looked it over again and again. As a teenager I did my homework on it, because it was such a big book, but would open it over and over again to look over the wonderful pictures. It never entered my mind that there were thousands or millions of other children that loved this book as much as I did and still do. The pictures never get old and the story never boring. As a Mom of two wonderful boys 2 1/2 and 4, it was a crowning moment to present this book to them and have them love it as much as I do. It is one of their favorites and will be yours too.

I bought this book for my children over 35 years ago and 5 years ago gave it to my first grandchild. Reading the book to her brought back such fond memories that I decided to purchase 7 to give to future grandchildren! Kids love the story and so do grandmas. My daughter and I were so excited when it was reissued.

This was my daughter's favorite book 20 years ago. Now I have a 3 1/2 yr. old granddaughter who will love it too! A big thanks to Random House for reprinting it!

I received this book as a gift when I was about 8 years old. I don't know what happened to the book and I have been searching for another copy for about 10 years so that I can read it to my children. It is definitely among my all time favorite children's book and I am overjoyed that it is back in print. The book emphasizes the importance of family and tradition and it is highly comforting - an excellent bedtime story.

I have this original copy and read it as a little girl and I'm so excited to see they have re-printed it so I can give one to my children. I look through these pictures with my children and have such fond memories of storytime.
