This is one of the best saxophone quartets with excellent arrangements augmented by a rhythm section a string quartet, additional instrumentalists and synthesizer.

I picked this CD up in a clearance bin, not knowing anything about the group. I was pleasantly surprised at how good this CD turned out to be. Fans of classic jazz will appreciate the 2 Dave Brubeck tunes, as well as the overall vibe of the group. They cover a lot of ground stylistcally, ranging from small ensemble jazz a la Gerry Mulligan to light funk reminscent of the Brecker Brothers. But regardless of the tune, the group has a very warm, accessible sound. You could easily play this music at a dinner party as background jazz, but it's also very sophisticated music worthy of a close listen. The musicians are all first-rate, including the backing band. The recording itself is extremely well done; would make any audiophile happy. Defintely worth picking up!
