I referee soccer and this whistle is great to have. The lower pitch makes it distinctive. If you are refereeing in a park where there are several fields close together, it is a great whistle to have because it sounds different and the players will be able to recognize your whistle from the other fields.

This whistle is not meant for basketball. It sounds completely different from the Fox 40 mini or classic. It sounds like a water polo whistle. It has a much lower pitch. You want attention as a basketball official, this whistle will give it to you because people will be wondering what that sound was. Get the mini or the classic for basketball.
