I got the Fox combo pack about a month ago for traveling. The pack is a remake of Specialty Defense Systems CFP-90 which is the largest pack issued by US forces. It holds around 90 litres or 5500 cubic inches in the main pack and an estimated 20 litres (1200ci) in the patrol pack. The patrol pack, known as a parasite pack, can be connected on either the top or the back. The Fox pack claims to be made with "better than military spec" materials. I found the pack to be very rugged, the material is tough and appears to be coated on the inside for moisture resistance. I was happy to find that this pack also has the radio pocket built into the largest compartment. The radio pocket holds anything heavy closest to your back for more comfort. The pack has an antenna port for the radio pack. This is perfect for a water bladder and drinking hose if you would like to hydrate hands free. The lid flap also opens so you can put maps and papers in the lid and access them with ease. My favorite part about this pack it that it has the sliding channel for the shoulder straps, making it more versatile and comfortable, regardless of your height. This is something the Rothco GI does not incorporate.
I bought the pack in black because I will be traveling in hostile places that would not appreciate the military appearance. I checked the whole thing along the stitching and everything looked good and tight. I filled the pack and have been testing it out a few hours every week. I adjust the pack and test it out. I adjust it some more and repeat. I run with the pack, I jump with the pack. I throw it around and kick it. This is a great value and will compare to any other pack sold at a sporting good store for $300+. I would have given this pack 5 stars but one of the side release clips did break. I bought a few of extras for $2 in case any more break. But other than that I am very satisfied.

I got what I paid for. A couple of seams tore within a month with only 90 lbs loaded. A clip broke as well. Military spec does not mean military quality.

This pack fits all my gear and then some. I love it. You can fit a sleeping bag and small pillow in the bottom compartment. The only complaint I have is that there is no way to secure the pocket flaps, so small items could fall out.
It is quite comfortable to carry.
