Small intro: I'm in the Air Force. I fly alot, not piloting, but in the back of the plane. Sometimes it gets really cold, mostly because of the altitude temps overpowering the pressurized cabin and conditioned air systems. When it gets cold, my toes and fingers go first (go figure). I really need my hands to stay warm as well as have dexterity at all times (my flight gloves do neither unfortunately). These things do the trick. Its not absolutely freezing up there of course but when it gets cold I put these on and keep going, they feel great too. No itching that I notice, and they're fairly soft. I'd definitely get a second pair if I lost these or damaged them. I can't speak to using them in the winter in the elements as much, but my winter survival instructor did have a similar pair on and swore by them. Survival fact: even when wet, wool is a fabric that can help maintain your body temps in cold weather.

For a number of reasons, I have been a fan of fingerless gloves for decades, but brand selection is sparse. Over the years, I have bought what has been available at one or another sporting goods store (each a generic offered under as a "store brand"). My last several purchases have been disappointing: light wool construction; no wrist coverage; poor fabrication with finger openings that quickly unravel ... you get the drift. The best gloves of this type that I have ever had was Fox River brand, but I haven't been able to find them anywhere until I searched Amazon.

Simply stated, there is no better fingerless wool glove on the market. (These are made of 85% wool ans 15% nylon for stretchability.) First, these are a good 50% thicker than other wool gloves of this type; second, while regular gloves are removed by pulling them off at the fingertips, these are removed by pulling at their finger openings. Most other brands are flimsily constructed and begin to fray and fall apart when this is done repeatedly; not so with Fox River gloves. (They are double (or perhaps triple) stitched at this location so they do not come apart at their openings); third, the cuffs extend a good 4-inches past the wrist providing additional warmth and comfort.

When last I bought these, they were 100% American made. Now, however, they are made in Haiti using American materials. I'm fine with that (Lord knows, Haiti needs what help it can get), and it's refreshing to not see "Made in China" on a product. Regardless of where these were made, the Fox River quality seems to have survived. I highly recommend these to anyone who wants a quality product that will survive more than a single season.

The quality of the glove is very good for the price. However, be sure to read the product description carefully. You will see that despite the fact that the glove pictured is gray, the description (halfway down the page) indicates the color is brown tweed. There is no color choice at cart time, and the one line title description does not include the color. When mine arrived I was surprised. The seller told me that the manufacturer only supplied them with pictures of gray gloves for this model, and offered to fully refund my purchase. As it was my fault for not reading the fine print and they are good quality, I kept them.

ON EDIT: I see they have updated the one line description to include the color. Very good!

I bought these because I have circulation problems and my hands get very cold, which makes it hard to type. They are fairly warm, yet still thin enough to allow typing, so they work well for what I want them for.

The construction quality and fit are both good, and while they are somewhat itchy, this is to be expected for wool and it doesn't bother me. I have some nitpicks though. The ends of the gloves tend to curl up the fingers with use. This doesn't make a huge difference in function, but I find it visually unappealing and it impedes finger motion a little. I've found this can be fixed by sewing with plain thread around the very end of each finger to tighten it. There was also a long loose thread inside each glove (left from the end of the weaving process I think), which I cut shorter with scissors. All in all though, good gloves and very functional.

A final word of warning - don't get them anywhere near velcro. They stick like the Dickens.

I agree that the sizing was a bit off. I originally ordered the Medium since that's the size I wear normally. However, the small on these fit much better. They do have a bit of stretch so if you are between sizes I would suggest going down a size. I use these around the house in the winter to help with Raynaud's. They keep my hands warm and I can still work in my office since they're fingerless. I also wear them under my bulky winter gloves for added warmth on really cold days. If you don't like the feel of wool on your bare skin, I would try something else.

These aren't handmade alpaca wool gloves, but they're warm, comfy, and they keep your hands functional. Be aware, that unless you have extraordinarily large hands, large may be too big (my glove size in work gloves, driving gloves, and latex gloves is large and they fit a little loose). Overall they were exactly what I was hoping they'd be.
