2.0 out of 5 stars tiny tiny 1 inch high by 3/4 inch wide
Gosh I really didn't expect them to be this small. 1 inch high by 3.4inch wide. I'm going to be making Q cookies for days for the kindergarten class. I must have missed the measurements when I went to order these. Oh well fun for the children to make their name.

An avid home cook that is a collector of both cookbooks and cooking gadgets writes this review. I purchased this product because my cooking has progressed to the point that I am as concerned about presentation as I am the taste of the food I fix for my family. I use this product to make fancy cuts on cookies, pie dough and raw vegetables. I have summarized my observations of this product below:

Pros:
1. Easy to change the shape of the cutout
2. Small size means easy to store
3. Excellent for cookie dough as well as chilled pastry and raw vegetables
4. Easy to clean by hand
5. Makes a very impressive cookie or pie crust that is deceptively simple

Cons:
1. Of limited usefulness but still quite fun (It wouldn't be the first kitchen gadget I would add to my collection)
2. Small size means it should not go into the dishwasher unless you want them to end up in the bottom

If you are wondering what you could do with these, here are some suggestions:
1. Happy Birthday on a top pie crust (cut out dough from the top crust or add dough letters to the top)
2. Message cut out of the top of a quesadilla
3. Monogrammed cookies
4. Monogram tea sandwiches
5. Cut out letters from cooked veggies and use the rim of a plate to send a message
6. Monogrammed french fries of polenta (the potato will needed to be thinner than normal to successfully cut it out)

The options are really endless if you are creative. I think messages in lunches are a nice way to remind those that you love that you are thinking about them.

Overall, if you are looking for way to enhance the appearance of the food you serve your family you will get a lot of use out of these.

3.0 out of 5 stars Smaller than expected, October 22, 2008

Sturdy cookie cutters but they are a lot smaller than I expected. The image shown is true to size! Makes it hard to cut anything remotely sticky cause it just gets stuck in the cutter.

2.0 out of 5 stars Tiny and Difficult to put away, December 5, 2009

These are cute cutters & I feel were an impulse buy on my part. They are really hard to work with!

These are SUPER TINY! I had so much trouble cutting/getting the shape out of the cutter without ruining the letter.

Then, after you are done and washed them all - getting them to fit back into the tin they came in takes forever. I gave up and just got a Ziploc bag.

5.0 out of 5 stars adorable fondant cutters, November 21, 2010

please note, these are not really cookie cutters. they are designed for fondant to decorate cakes and cupcakes and thus are very small. with that in mind, they are perfect and will keep well if hand washed and dried.

this turned out to be a bit smaller than expected, but nicely made. It is a puzzle (I like puzzles though) to get them back in the tin if you take them out.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as I believed, December 17, 2011

The pieces are very well made, and I have ordered before from this company with little to no disappointed, and never because of quality or service (extra service was not required). My disappointment is the size.

Why was Wiltons alphabet cutter set the same size, little difference except the Fox Run set is better and has a storage tin included, described as Fondant cutter, and Fox Run as cookie cutter. The size is the same. The shape of the letters is very similar. Perhaps somewhere it did say 1 inch, or slightly more, and perhaps I am challenged in understanding the concept of size. After receiving the Wiltons, I reasoned (faultily) that because these were fondant cutters and therefore smaller. Why would you need cookie sized letters on a cake?

So I searched again in "cookie cutters," to come upon these. A photo was shown of the numbers as well. They appeared similar to me, so I purchased both. So now I have two sets of small letters, 1 set of small numbers, and 1 set of large numbers.

This is a better made set, does not come with numbers but does come with storage (haven't tried getting them all back in once they are out though)Do not buy these or the other if you are looking for a cookie sized alphabet cutter.

2.0 out of 5 stars too small, sadly, November 23, 2011

What a great idea. I am a typography teacher. I had delusions of grandeur thinking I was actually going to make letter cookies. I knew when I saw them, once out of the tin, they weren't going back in. No big deal, there. The dough for these would need to be very tough to get them out. Doesn't work with sugar cookie dough. Rats. And, way too small. I don't have the kind of time it would take to work with these. I would LOVE to find larger ones. I know there is a market. I have seen people asking for them all over the internet.

Great concept, but the actual product doesn't work.

3.0 out of 5 stars cutters do not work that well with playdoh, February 5, 2010

I know these are meant to make cookies but, as a teacher, I had this great idea to use them for a language arts center and have my students build their spelling words using playdoh and the cookie cutter letters. It works okay but the playdoh is very difficult to get out of the small spaces and the cookie cutters are little. With some help (and the lid of a pen) we are able to make it work but I will keep looking for cutters that don't have such tiny spaces for the playdoh to get stuck in.
