Damn you, Fox Run Banana Slicer!
Weird Ralph
My wife has long complained about the uneven slicing of the noble banana that I performed each morning for our corn flakes.
Mister Mike
Put the rooster next to the banana and leave the house for a week (the smell will kill you if you don't!)

This banana slicer is perfectly adequate and much cheaper than the top-of-the-line Huntzler 521, but I feel that the quality of the banana-slicing experience is not worth sacrificing for the cheaper price. What a dream it is to slice bananas with the Huntzler! This banana slicer leaves me feeling hollow and empty, without the deep satisfaction I feel from using my Huntzler 521 (or 520 or the classic 324).

I suppose I could use this one when I go camping, or any other situation where I need sliced bananas but am afraid of losing my Huntzler.

For years, i have struggled with slicing my banana's with a knife. Most of the time, the banana would squish, and i'd have to throw it away and start all over (afterall, who wants to eat a squished banana). Then, out of the blue, some genious comes up with the ultimate tool to slice a banana. I tell ya, i am in fruit paradise now. I carry the slicer with me wherever i go. Now when people ask me if i have a banana in my pocket, i tell them, "WHY NO! I have a banana slicer in my pocket and i am happy to see them!!"

I ordered this slicer because I eat a banana each day to keep my potassium level high. I am very health conscious. This product has ruined my life. I now slice my bananas with such speed that the muscles in my hands have become weak. But my problems haven't stopped there. When I realized how lazy I'd become, I sank into a deep depression and quit going to the gym. For the last 6 months I've been sitting at home, eating Twinkies, and watching Honey Boo Boo and Jersey Shore. Imagine how I feel now. I'm down to my last four cases of Twinkies, and my favorite show's been canceled! Don't order this product. It will ruin your life too!

Let me start by saying that for banana slicing, I'm a straight up "571B man!" That thing is like the Mohammed Ali of the banana slicing world. Quick, eloquent, and and packs a mighty punch. It's almost like the banana never had a chance!

However, like anyone else in this world, I'm always looking for an upgrade. That's where the Fox Run comes in. I ordered this and couldn't wait for its arrival. LOL, I nearly mugged the postman when I saw the package in his arms. I quickly got it to the kitchen, where I had a bunch of new bananas waiting. This thing was so damn powerful that it not only cut through my banana, but the chopping block it was on, and the granite countertop, too! Realizing it was much too powerful without a box of Kryptonite near it to slow it down, I've kept to my Hutzler 571B for banana slicing and now use this bad@$$ piece of equipment for home security purposes. A robber had broken in recently (no doubt looking to steal the fabled 571B) and this thing felt like an extension of my arm. It slices, dices, it purees! Prison for that robber? Not on your life. That miscreant is living it up in the ICU!

No 3 day wait period for this bad boy. The liberals and their cry for gun legislation will never know about the secret weapon. Thank you, Fox Run!

Sure this slicer LOOKS like the Hutzler 571 ... but it's not. The slices are very uneven and it doesn't slice bananas that bend to the left. Spend the extra money and get the Hutzler. The sorrow and aggravation you'll experience with these cheap knock-offs aren't worth the few dollars you might save. Take it from someone who's tried them ALL. :(

Look, there is only one banana slicer worth its weight in the fruit slicing jungle....the 571 Hutzler. This item probably wasn't even made in China....some Belgian knock off.

Is this a Hutzler 571?

No.

Is this comparable to Sir Hutzlers Model 432?

Yes.

People, there is a reason that the Model 432 was rendered obsolete.

If you're super ultra poor, and can't afford the award winning Hutzler design, sure, buy this catastrophe.

But ask yourself this; if a cat barks like a dog, eats like a dog, and makes logs like a dog, is it really a dog?

This past summer, I was at "All Things Banana in Atlanta" which bills itself as the world's largest banana utility convention. I'll say! They had banana slicers, banana dicers, banana peelers, banana juicers...you name it. The Hutzler booth by far outshined all other banana service providers there. For starters, they had an 8 foot tall replica of the Hutzler 571 which reeled you in. The guys at the booth had tons of banana jokes and did demonstrations every 15 minutes. They had their dvd on sale, "101 How-To's for your Hutzler" which I didn't say no to. One of the segments on the dvd shows you how to perfectly slice your banana lengthwise to create banana strips that you can put on breakfast sandwiches or just use as a healthy alternative to bacon. I tried the same technique with the Fox Run and got a goopy mess. If you're like me, you like having lots of different options for banana slicers for every occasion, but let me save you time and money: Just buy the Hutzler 571 and be done with it.
