This is a piece of trash. The whisk wire is not secured into the handle and pops out on first use. I have one of these I purchased from King Arthur Flour that I love. It's a quality piece of work. I thought I'd try to save a buck with this one. Big mistake. In the process of returning it now. I'll pay a few extra dollars and go back to King Arthur.

Purchased this after reading "Artisan Bread in 5 Minutes a Day." While that book and its recipes are great, the use of this tool to mix dough is an abject failure. It quite literally fell apart on the second use, with the wire bit simply pressed into the wood. Don't waste your money, this is just cheap junk.

The wire whisk falls out of the handle as soon as you start stirring the dough. You can pop it back in, but then it falls out again. It is a waste of money.

The Danish dough whisk and the food quality buckets make bread making easy--especially with the Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day method!

How many times have I worked hard not to over-stir muffins, coffee cakes and other batters that are to remain lumpy for baking!? This whisk is wonderful! Saw one on a TV baking show, and immediately I galloped off to search for one online.

I chose this one because its construction seemed a little better than some others, . . . and the price was right. It has that extra little brace connecting the inner loopy part of the wire to the handle base. Some don't have that, and it made sense to me that this piece would fortify it. I wasn't disappointed, when it arrived -- large enough to tackle any dough or batter in my household use.

One component might need some attention, as it gets more and more use -- the metal collar around the end of the wooden handle, where the wire whisk inserts into the wood. I can anticipate it coming loose in the future, after much use. I have other tools similarly constructed, and that collar has come loose. However, if this happens, I have no problem screwing a small stainless steel screw into it to make it tight again. In fact, I may just do that now. I wouldn't use glue, simply because the stainless steel screw would be safer in the dishwasher.

UPDATE: I bake bread. I'm always tinkering with my processes. I was dumping all ingredients into my large, Kitchen Aid, stand mixer (now about 35 years old) with dough hook and letting it mix and knead for about ten minutes. Recently, I altered that. I now dump all the liquids (including proofed yeast) into the mixing bowl, along with about half the flour and mix it with this dough whisk first. It combines the basic ingredients into a smooth gluten more thoroughly and swiftly; then I put the Kitchen Aid to work, slowly adding in the remaining flour.

Didn't know they existed until I read a bread baking book, Wish I had known how great they work, would have bought one sooner.

This is perfect for bread and cookie doughs, although for the latter you'd still need another tool suitable for creaming butter (if recipe calls for it).

It picks up the liquid and dry ingredients much faster than a spatula can, and is sturdy enough for some light kneading. Mine started to creak a little after using it about 8-10 times but it still works fine. Extremely easy to clean too!

I definitely recommend this to home bakers, it's a really efficient and effective tool!

READ BEFORE YOU BUY... The whisk wires are glued into the handle with a dab of silicone, that's it... The whisk would be great if it didn't come apart only 2 minutes into the first use, the whisk wires sprung out of the whole in the handle and it's about impossible to put it back together. My mixture was not dry and hard to mix, it was very malleable. Not a good buy...
