I was a bit leery about the need for a hamburger patty press, but for less than 10 bucks, I figured why not take the chance. At first I was worried about cleaning the thing after using it, but it breaks down into three, easily scrubbed, parts. However, there is no mention of this very important feature on the box.I am very satisfied with this purchase, and see no reason why you wouldn't be also.

To be honest I was going to purchase a Tupperware Press it was a lot higher but well known brand for lasting. I found this and I figured why not try it. So far we have made several packs of hamburger into patties. It was very easy to use and clean. I was worried about the patties sticking to the press and not being able to get them out. No need to worry. It is a time saver for sure and not as messy by doing it all by hand. So the saying you get what you pay for isn't always true!

I've had other hamburger presses... this one is my favorite!Reason #1? Its the easiest to clean! Theres a white cap on the handle that holds everything together. Remove that and it comes apart for proper washing! You never have to worry about those bits of old meat fermenting in the places you can't properly access. I use this with a scale and paper. I put the paper on the scale, weigh out 4 ounces, then press the meat right on the paper. You can freeze the patties on a cookie sheet, then once their solid, put them in a freezer bag. I found it amusing that one reviewer seemed to feel obligated to fill the hamburger press to the brim, then complained that the resulting burgers were too large. Here's a really handy tip: if you want a smaller burger, put LESS meat into the press! WOW! How did I think of that? Well, the drugs and Electro-Convulsive Therapy certainly played a part, I'm sure, since I often have these intuitive leaps that are beyond the ken of mere mortals. It even seems to me that... yes, I am almost certain it is true... one could WEIGH out the amount of meat and thereby exercise strict mastery of the mass domain of the resulting meaty discs.Another tip: you don't have to put just ground BEEF into the press! You could use other ground meats - LAMB, BISON, PORK, VEAL, VENISON... or even a MIXTURE of different meats! One could conceivably even mix SPICES in with the ground meats. O God, I've got to go rest now... Bon Apetit, campers!

This makes 1/2 lb burgers. That was not clear to me when I bought it. That's fine with me, but for people who were hoping for McD-sized burgers they'd probably want one about half that thickness.I like it better than I thought. I can buy a big 5.5lb thing of burger, mix it in a big bowl with lots of spices, then you hold the press in one fist like an ice cream cone, stuff it with the other hand, kind of flatten against it and then run your finger around it to get the excess off the edges. I bought patty-papers which are great, they don't cost much and go a LONG way. I was able to very neatly stack these, for storing in freezer and fridge. They are more dense than the burgers I make by hand since I'm packing them tightly in there, which is yummy and makes them firmer for cooking. It also means since I track my food intake I know how much I'm eating each time; and, this also means knowing exactly how long for cooking since they're all the same size; and, exactly how many I'll get out of a package of ground beef. It's kinda silly I guess, not like anybody can't make a burger with their hands, but I really like this little tool.

I stuff a 1/3 cup measuring cup with ground beef, pop it onto the press, then press down and twist (to spread the meat around evenly within the hamburger press) onto a piece of waxed paper. Then the press pushes off and ta-da! A hamburger patty in about 5 seconds. I buy a case of lean ground beef from Sam's club (buy the case - it's only $1.60 per pound that way here in KY) and make up about 50 hamburger patties at a time. This press is cheap, easy to clean, and works well. But next time I'd buy two so a friend or kid can help me make them.

Fox Run Round Hamburger PressWhen I got the press I almost didn't use it cause I had bought another one that I have used before I use them for making the best non-soy veggie burgers. I tried it and it was fast and easy. I use the scale to get the right size burger but to make really easy so nothing sticks I use two quart size plastic bags I put one on the bench put the veggie burger on it throw another bag and the press it out. Take the top bag off and pick up the other bag and just flip it it on to your hand and to a sheet pan. REALLY A GREAT TOOL !! sf

Best "Hamburger Helper",
This review is from: Fox Run Round Hamburger Press
Why buy frozen pre-formed hamburgers of unknown quality when you can buy your favorite quality fresh ground hamburger meat, mix in your favorite seasonings, and use the Hamburger Press to form perfect hamburgers in a jiffy? Delight your family and guests with the flavor of an old fashioned homemade hamburger with a professional quality form that is just right for the hamburger bun. That's why I call the Fox Run Hamburger Press the best "hamburger helper"!

Bought this hamburger patty maker after seeing the PBS TV show "America's Test Kitchens". Works like a charm, eazy to use and clean. Better than other pieces of junk patty makers that I have bought.
