I have used several brands of Silicone Baking Mats in varying price ranges, from You-Get-What-You-Pay-For-Cheap to More-Than-I-Should-Have-Spent-Expensive. The Fox Run Silicone Baking Mat is comparable to more expensive baking mats, and it's very reasonably priced.

In the few weeks I've had this mat, I've used it to make tofu, several types of cookies, biscotti, and focaccia. It's performed well on all occasions: nothing sticks and everything bakes evenly. It's thicker than some of the other mats I have, and I like the heavier weight. Some baking mats are very sticky-feeling, but this one is not.

So far, this mat hasn't retained food odors; however, I haven't cooked anything particularly pungent on it (I keep this one for cookies, breads, etc...I use another one for foods with garlic, onions, etc). The one con that I've noticed with this mat is that it stains more easily than my others-- the first batch of chocolate chip cookies I made left telltale chip marks all over the mat. But, since stains don't affect the mat's performance, I didn't take off a star on my rating.

Try the Fox Run Silicone Baking Mat--I'll certainly buy another in the future if the price remains as reasonable as it is now.

I ordered this product to replace my Silpats that I have used for about four years. I was looking for a less expensive alternative and, boy, did I find it!

I can use both sides of the mats, not just the one side as with the Silpat. It has markings on it so you don't have to use a ruler if you don't want to. Cookies just slide right off of them. I am very impressed with this product.

I bought 3 of them. They were lower cost than silpats and other brands. They look nice, feel nice, and work perfectly. Non-stick cookies, roasts, etc. Easy to clean. Fit half-sheet pan perfectly. If you're in the market for silicone baking mats, what are you waiting for? Go ahead and buy it.

I've got to say, I don't think I can live without this little thing I didn't even know existed until about a month ago. I'm totally floored by how well it works! It's really nice not having to use foil, parchment paper, shortening, pam spray,or anything like that. This baking mat really simplified everything for me. Cookies, biscuits, fish, even pizza came out excellent and slide right off! It doesn't seem like you really NEED to cut anything on the baking pad, I literally just tilt the pad when I pull it out and whatever is on it slides effortlessly onto the cutting board. In fact I am kind of worried maybe I won't be holding it straight one of these days and everything will slide onto the floor. I can't get over that I don't have to grease everything up anymore, it makes me want to cry a tear of joy haha. Only thing that kind of creeped me out is that there were a few gnarly long black hairs stuck to the mat when I pulled it out. Extra incentive to scrub it extra clean before first use!

Some may have mentioned these points before, but I will risk the repeat because I am too lazy to sift through the rest of the comments (yes lazy! that's why this pad is so awesome, I can be a lazy baker).

First of all, it does get really hot. You can't try and grab it by the edges like you would tin foil. It also STAYS hot for a while, so watch your fingers! (and other extremities)

Second, before I used it, I washed it (duh) and threw it in the oven for 10-15 minutes at 425 degrees. I don't know why 425 degrees, I just felt like it. The first time you bake with it, it smokes a bit so it may be a good idea to burn off all the stinky before actually putting food on it. It probably won't kill you not to (*probably*), but at the very least it's much nicer to smell your fresh baked yummies than fumes. I don't notice a smell to the mat afterwards.

Huge fan of this thing. Saves time, money, and calories!

It was never mentioned in the info but this mat is only supposed to be used up to 480 degrees in the oven. I say this because I was planning to use it with my artisan/rustic breads which are baked at 500 or 550. Not a problem though, I am not a fanatic about it! I bake a little longer at 400-450 degrees and the bread turns out fine. No more wasting money on parchment papers for the pans either. I can even proof the bread on this mat tucked inside the folds of my "couche" (so soft dough keeps its shape) and then transfer the mat to the pan when ready to bake. I knead dough and shape breads/rolls on the mat, and it's so much easier to take it to the sink for a rinse instead of hefting the heavy cutting board over there! Of course you can't cut on it, or use any kind of scraper, so I "cut" with the side of a silicone spatula or soft silicone bowl scraper. Good quality, good looks, and very handy!

I've had about five Silpat silicon baking mats -- the French fancy ones. All of them are discolored and falling apart after just a couple years of use. If you try and cut anything on them -- even with a butter knife -- you will damage them. But these new Fox Run ones are wonderful. They fit the cookie sheets better, they have ruler markings on them which come in handy - and they're much thicker (I'd say even twice as thick) as the Silpats. The cost is unbeatable too. I can get two or three of the Fox Runs for the price of one Silpat. I have used these for various things since getting them , everything from baked onion rings to cookies. They work very well. I'm a convert. You will be too.
