Don't panic girls, it's not the movie I'm dissing,
By mad took (Las Vegas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Foxfire (1996 Film) (Audio CD)
I hate to be the party pooper here, but I see a lot of rave reviews based on the movie itself that might lead someone to think this CD is great. READ THIS FIRST AND KNOW WHAT YOU'RE GETTING! "Foxfire" the movie had a great musical backdrop; the released soundtrack, however, has some problems. This CD doesn't have any of the songs that I bought it for (and that most people are hoping to find on this CD I think). Track 1 is fine, that Candlebox song is great, and there is a pretty good Rose Chronicles song that I don't seem to remember being in the movie...? "Me and my Charms" was a real disappointment; why would they use a different version than the one on the movie? It's not as pretty, and it's especially frustrating that the guitar version of the song cannot be found ANYWHERE. The rest of the songs on the CD are "we are having fun" songs that, if you're not actually having fun, can be slightly obnoxious. Plus, they're a bit dated now four years later. Basically, this CD could function as a background if you've got some friends over or whatever, but I feel like there are too many of the better songs missing from the movie to make this worth buying (Mazzy Starr "Into Dust", the guitar version of "Me and my Charms", two songs that *darnit* I don't know the name of, and two instrumentals that I didn't expect to find on the soundtrack but was hoping for anyway), and none of what's here will allow you to reminisce over the movie or anything else for that matter. Most importantly, the songs you'll find here just aren't all that good. Just beware, I was disappointed, you could be too. Listen to all the song samples and make sure you know what you're getting first.

I loved the movie! I did not know not all the songs were on the cd. I liked the songs on it, I just liked the ones that weren't on there too... It was missing 2 songs and the movie version of "Me and My Charms".

Solid soundtrack that could have been better,

Most of the songs on this soundtrack are catchy and very likeable. I think they succeed in capturing the spirit of the movie. The slower, gentler songs are not overshadowed by the aggressive and sometimes vulgar (The Cramps) offerings. Certain songs I believe could have been substituted with others from the movie. The song by Shampoo and also by Papa Brittle I could live without. Either of those song's could have been replaced with "Dancing Barefoot" by Johnette Napolitano, an omission that I cannot overlook. "Dancing Barefoot" was the song playing during the skakeboarding scene. For anyone looking for it, it can be found on the cd "Spirit of '73: Rock for Choice".

Great Movie & Great Album,
This review is from: Foxfire (1996 Film) (Audio CD)
First of all, the movie was great. I'm a HUGE fan of Angelina Jolie, past works and present, and I own all of her films on VHS. Anyway, that is not the point...the point is, the ST rocked. Although I was mad that "Me and My Charms" was a little bit different on the CD then in the end of the movie (This is acoustic) it was very similiar. It still sounded great. This CD contains really cool party songs, from Shampoo to L7 to The Cramps' infamous song, "Let's Get F*cked Up." My favorite song on the whole CD, though, has to be The Wild Strawberries' "I Don't Want To Think About It." They are such an amazing band, and this song, which was played at the opening credits and first few minutes of the movie, is really awesome. The sound is great and the lyrics are even better. I recommend this CD to anyone, whether you have seen the movie or not! It really is one of my favorite albums of all time. =)

I swear I must have looked everywhere for this Cd! But Luckily I came across it at a used music store. Its really sad that a CD like this is a hard to find item, cos it ROCKS! everyone from Candlebox to the Cramps to L7 have added their 2 cents to this cd. If you can find it, I suggest you grab it ASAP! No music collection is complete without it!

I enjoyed the movie so much I felt compelled to buy the CD. I usually do not like this kind of music, but when I listen to it, I am reminded of different parts of the movie.

Foxfire became my favorite movie the first time I watched it. I had to have the cd, and Amazon was the only place I could find it. All of the music creates the perfect background for this kick a** movie about girl power. You don't want to miss it!

Aside from being me and my friend's "cult" movie (we watch it every weekend) the Foxfire soundtrack is always in my CD player. This was perhaps one of the hardest CD's to find for me, but when I saw it at a used music store I grabbed it. This is an excellent soundtrack. You'll love _Me and My Charms_ and _I Don't Want to Think About It_!
