Four decades of Foxfire,
By
This review is from: The Foxfire 40th Anniversary Book: Faith, Family, and the Land (Paperback)
The "Foxfire 40th Anniversary Book" is a wonderful tribute to the people of Appalachia as they shared memories of their lives and culture with us. This book follows the same down-to-earth tone as the preceeding volumes. The earlier ones were very informative and enjoyable, and this one certainly lives up to that standard.

Wonderful Book!,

A welcome addition to the Fox Fire series. I first read the Fox Fire books back in the 1970's. They were very insightful and informative books then and appealed to the "back to Earth" movement of the time. This book is not a continuation of that series, but a compliment to it. The information and wisdom in this book is timeless and would appeal to all Americans, regardless of individual background. America has come a long way from the homespun stories in this book, but it is always refreshing to look back and see where we came from. All of us. This book should be a high school text book and required reading for all Americans.

While I haven't read this one, I know that my father has read all of the Foxfire books and says they are all very interesting with stories of how they do things "back in the day" and even currently in the Appilacian mountains (sorry for the spelling). Very good information to have stored in your library just in case...

I have most of the Foxfire books. I grew up in Alabama and my parent's came from Georgia, so it's like hearing stories my folks told us about life in the Appalachians-when life was so much harder, but better in so many ways. I love these books.Anyone would, I think.
