Shake that nasty thing you nasty, nasty girl!,

This review is from: Foxy Lady (Audio CD)
Foxy Lady isn't as unique as Supermodel of the World, but it does have it's high spots. The CD starts off with some basic boiler plate dance tracks but then the Foxy Lady track starts and the old Ru rears her head once again. From here on out it's the sassy, brassy and always classy Ru Paul doing her thing with style! Unfortunately nothing here reaches the heights of Supermodel, Back to My Roots or A Shade Shady, although R.U. Nasty, Work That Body and Dolores come close. I especially like the guitar work on Dolores, it has a nice Spanish feel. Celebrate is a terrific dance song that will get most everyone moving and should've been a larger hit. But mostly, if you're not a Ru Paul fan you probably will not be that satisfied. For fans though this is a 'must own'. With only 2 Ru records to choose from you gotta have 'em both!

When the you think RuPaul what do you think? Well think again. RuPaul's second album will blow the roof off your house if you are not careful. The tracks on FOXY LADY show a fierce and frisky approach to dance music. The tracks showcase Ru's great ability to write fierce dance hooks and red hot meloodies. " A littel bit of love" is an amazingly well produced and well written track that is Rupaul's best effort to date. "Snapshot" is another simple pop/dance song that burns your mouth. The song "Dolores" is latin flavored track that is smeared with red hot dancablity. No song on the album sounds odd or misplaced. Due to RuPaul job profession the album didn't recieve must attention; however, fear not because it was a club sensation- and rightly so. An amazing effort and a dance album that ranks up there with Cher's "Believe" and Madonna's "Madonna".

I think RuPaul has improved Greatly over her (or his) last CD, Supermodel of the World. There are more upbeat songs and really good songs that are written well. RuPaul, you go girl!

There are certain celebrities/"entertainers" that defy description: Slim Whitman, Kevin Federline, Mr. T., Flava Flav, and Paris Hilton. They are media "creations" that rely totally on gimmicks than genuine talent. I hate to do this but to that list, I must add RuPaul.Standing at well over 6'7" in heels, the statuesque performer is an average looking guy but when dolled up to the max, he makes a stunning "woman" that appeals to both genders. Unfortunately, while the "look" may work on stage and on any visual medium, it's what is heard that makes it on a recording. And on that "note," RuPaul doesn't quite cut it. He is an average singer, saddled on "Foxy Lady" with interchangeable songs that may be perfect for the dance floor or gym yet don't do much when played in the confines of one's home. The album even lacks the tongue-in-cheek humor of the earlier "Supermodel of the World"; thus, "Foxy Lady" can't garner any more than a CURVED (and, SYMPATHETIC) three stars, in my opinion. Now, if paired with the right producer that knows the singer's limits, Ru may just come up with a release worthy of his camp/novelty factor. And, with that, he may emerge as more than just a gimmick.

i can't believe there are only seven reviews for ms. paul! i felt compelled to add my two cents! this is an awesome cd and a wonderful bridge between "supermodel of the world" and "red hot". rupaul has grown on this album and you can hear the proof in songs like "delores" and "if you were a woman and i was a man". there is not one bad song on the entire album. my only criticism would be that i'm not crazy about the album cover because i don't think it does ru justice. just check out the cover for the new album "red hot" and you'll see what i mean. ru--keep it up girl. you are THE drag queen and we all bow before you.

I have had many years of love for RuPaul, and this is the cd that started it all for me. Party Train is still a go to song to get the party going.

Everybody Say Love!,

Dolores and A Little Bit Of Love are absolutely gorgeous, some of RuPaul's best work. R. U. Nasty is super fun. The rest is quality, joyful, soulful '90s dance music. The production is great and Ru's voice sounds fantastic. I rarely skip a track. Definitely worth owning. & the booklet is a mini poster :).

I purchased a copy of "Foxy Lady" after having gotten copies of Ru's subsequent albums "Red Hot" and "Champion." The albums' two hit songs "Snapshot" and "A Little Bit of Love" were good chices as singles. I became instantly enthralled with the songs "Snapshot", "A Little Bit Of Love", "Foxy Lady", "Party Train" "Snatched For The Gods", "Celebrate", "Delores" and RuPaul's rendition of Diana Ross's hit "Work That Body." This albums' songs are well produced, written and sung! Recommended.

I recently bought Foxy lady, Rupauls 3rd album out of curiosity just to see for myself , that can this artist rock..A couple of listens to this album and you will be hooked..Some of the songs have been cleverly written and its obvious that Rupaul has got more talent than she is credited for. Song after song of mastefully written music has made this album and although a late inclusion to my cd collection one of my all time favoutite classic albums. A must get album for anyone who wants to groove and dance along with this hot queen of music.
