This review is from: Fracture (Audio CD)
I caught wind of these guys from the Tangerine Dream group on Yahoo, when someone recently posted a list of other EM artists who release material in the same vein of vintage (meaning 1970s) Tangerine Dream. I don't know anything about these guys (Arc) but tried out a couple of their disc as MP3 downloads from Amazon, namely, this one (Fracture) and also Arcturus (a live recording). Being an EM music fan who is partial to the vintage 1970s material (TD, Klause Schultze, Jean Michel Jarre, Vangelis, among others), I found the Arc discs to be in the same vein. It's good stuff, no it's Great stuff! If you know TD, the material on this disc reminds me of Ricochet and Stratosfear in particular, also reminding me of Klaus' Timewind disc--which means Arc uses a lot of sequencing and layering on top, and either play on vintage instruments or have pretty good patches for the synths of that time. I highly recommend these discs, if you're into EM of that sub-genre. At this writing, the discs are available as MP3 downloads on Amazon for a really good price, under $7 a piece, so you can't go wrong.
