Since there are no reviews for this game, I've decided to write one for all the people thinking about playing it. Keep in mind that its been a while since the last time I wrote a review, so here it goes.
To start, I'll just give a number review then explain why. 6.75/10

Having played Fracture through to completion, I walked away from the game with very mixed feelings.

On one hand, Fracture is a very competent FPS with rich graphics, strong character designs and fun, fully deformable environments. From a functionality standpoint-there is little to complain about. The controls are spot on and intuitive, the camera is unnoticeable, and it seems to be glitch-free. Everything runs as smoothly and as properly as you would expect from a game of this caliber-and the polish that was put into this game is evident. Fracture is a beautiful game. It can also be fun deforming the environment with your weapon and your grenades and this feature provides a lot of opportunity for creative strategy.

What gripes me about Fracture however-is that the game is just damn frustrating. If nonstop aggravation, frustration and the urge to lob your controller through the tv are your idea of fun in a video game-then by all means Fracture is the perfect game for you.

Enemies miles off in the distance (that you can't reach with your own measly gun) will blast you to pieces in seconds, enemies will also suddenly appear from thin air in a room that you just spent ten minutes clearing-and promptly kill you by shooting you in the back, it's not uncommon either for you to spend a good 20 to 30 minutes getting through an area just to be killed and have to start clear back from the beginning. I cannot count the number of times I must have shouted out loud, "are you *bleeping* kidding me??" These sorts of things, a fun game do not make-and Fracture can be an exercise in sheer video game patience.

The game's length is decent, but I suspect part of that comes from an artificial lengthening due to the amount of times you die and must restart. (Trust me you will die A LOT in this game.) There were sections of Fracture where I felt I must have spent more time dying than playing. And for the coup-de-grace of gripes with Fracture-the final battle is hands down the most frustrating-make you want to rip the hair out of your head, punch a whole in the wall and smash a beer bottle over a chair, cheap boss battles I have ever fought. If it weren't for an insane need to finish the games that I start I wouldn't have bothered. I can't tell you how many times I had to play this same segment, over and over and over again.

Fracture is definitely worth a rental-or a purchase if you can it for cheap-but be warned, your language will not improve while playing this game-nor will your mental health.

First off, if you like action third person shooters, then this is definitely a game to check out. There is a constant flow of enemies to take out with plenty of interesting guns and grenades that do some amazing damage. The terrain gun is used primarily for giving yourself cover and also to solve the many puzzles the litter the game. The game also looks amazing in HD, sights and sounds are great. The problem that I had that occasionally might ruin a game for me is story. The story just felt a little boring. But dont get me wrong, the concept of the way we treat this planet cathing up with us was interesting, and the ideas of what might happen to our country in that time were good too, but I just didn't feel for the characters as much as I would have liked. It is first and foremost a action shooter with the twist of a terrain deforming gun. So its worth checking out if this is your type of game. I liked it, but with so much more games coming out in the next two months, this might have to be one of those rentals.

3.0 out of 5 stars fracture overall rating, September 12, 2009
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Fracture (Video Game)
The game starts by showing how the future is going to be a bad place. Since it's around the 22nd century, the west coast began changing people DNA while the east coast try to use cybernetic instead. You can regenerate your health by taking cover and you can use your guns to change the terrains. you play as Jet Brody and it's up to you to stop the general from taking over the world, as your progressive you'll be shooting wave after wave of enemies while keeping the camera under control. The bad AI make the game frustrating at time, the game is pretty standard for a shooting game. The bosses, story mode, selections of different weapons such as snipers, rocket launchers, machine guns, grenades. You'll drive a futuristic off-road vehicle and challenges makes the game worth playing. There is also team deathmatch, capture the flag and king of hill you can play against friends for fun.

the good:
good soundtrack, multiplayer excavation is fun.

the bad:
cheap deaths and frustration as you get farther on the story mode.

Overall I'll give it a score of 6.8
the story was alright, my favorite weapon was the rocket launcher and the tornado grenade. The explosion is nice and the online was fun to play with friends.

Game play is corny and repetitive at times. But overall I found the online reviews to be too harsh. It is worth buying and a good way to pass time. It is not one of the best games, but it is till fun

3.0 out of 5 stars A little different than most first person shooters., February 28, 2011
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Fracture (Video Game)
So, the hook on this game is that you can raise or lower the ground. Big whoop, right? Well, what I thought would be a lame gimmick to a tired gaming type turned out to be pretty interesting. If you need shelter from incoming fire, raise the ground. If you can't get around a gate, lower the ground and go underneath. And that's not all - the game works in a lot of other things that make use of this feature. For instance, can't get through an energy field? Maybe by lowering the ground underneath it's power source will disconnect the power and kill the field! Some guy shooting at you from up on a high metal ledge? Lower the ground under the support structre, and watch it all fall and take him with it! There are a few weaknesses, of course, but not too many that detract from the fun. I do find that on it's normal difficulty it can be a bit much. Waves of guys coming at you and a confusing weapon interface can make it tough to get away alive. But, once you clear the immediate area, it stays clear, so you can explore a little, which is fun. There are these pink collectable things that you can search for and finding ways to get to them is entertaining.

Overall I liked this game. It's gimmick is used very well, and it's entertaining to play. Also, I got this used for dirt cheap, like close to $6 I think, so for me, it was well worth it.

This game does not disappoint the Lucas Arts name. The combat system is seriously kick-butt and has awesome weapons and armor too. Fracture also has a very good story line to it, I have never seen a story line this in any other game. Awesome fun!

If you're a big fan of FPS, this game will not disappoint... and it will not impress. I suppose the impression and experience a game delivers is at least somewhat time-sensitive; it may have been a little bit more impressive / fun when it came out nearly two years ago. I just played it, in summer of 2010. It is definitely technically proficient. The artwork is complete and detailed. But in terms of the storyline, it fails to engage. It's not as thin as an arcade shooter; it's also not as enthralling as a Half-Life 2, Halo, FarCry. Again, not that there's NO plot; I just couldn't care. I would agree that this is worth renting, or just buying for a steep discount. If you really just like shoot-em-ups and don't care quite as much as the storyline or immersion of the experience, this one is going to be more fun for you than it was for me.

1.0 out of 5 stars Lucas Arts? I expected better..., June 2, 2010
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Fracture (Video Game)
The game provided a way for me to kill time.

I was hoping it would have been more like the portal gun. Where you needed to use the gun to figure out how to make it through to the next level, type of thing. But it was more of a brainless, blast at the ground to figure out how to design your own cover. Bla... neat and novel Idea at first. Then after creating my molten blast shield of dirt. Shoot out wave after wave of enemies that was never ending. ("monster closet" spawning)

I originally bought it because it was Lucas Arts for crying out loud! I'd expect better than the mindless monster closets that kept you busy watching your back instead of enjoying the game... I like to look around and check out the scenery after I clear a room and try to look for easter egg's and whatever... nope not in this game.

I refrain from saying this game sucked. I wouldn't have played half way through it if it totally sucked. But, the game needed just a little more of something. I wished they had taken some of their examples from the likes of portal and half life 2. That would have made that little gun invention really neat. But, it was not really neat. I was severly disapointed, and put the game down only after halfway through. Then I sold it at a yard sale.

Update to clarify: One star is what I rated it BECAUSE... I kept shooting at the same enemy over and over and over... the only way to stop the little monster closet from spawning more bad guys was to get past the level. I felt rushed and I was left with the feeling of wanting something more at the end of each level. thinking that I killed everything I'm looking around for pickups only to activate a monster closet by walking past this immaginary line that isn't relevant to anything. No thought went into the little blasto gun... and the lack of a sniper gun or scope to help clear out the sticky guys way out there... its a game!!! its supposed to be fun!!! They should have named this game "Booger flicker"
