So Heavy, So Melodic, November 12, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Fractures in the Facade of Your Porcelain Beauty (Audio CD)
As everyone else has said this album has 3 tracks in common with Suicide Notes, plus two others. The two that are solely on this album are really nothign great... I've probably listened to them two or three times in the 6 months I've had this CD. Don't get me wrong, the version of "Someone's Standing on My Chest" from this album is one of my favorite songs ever, but it only gets four stars due to the inclusion of the quite-mediocre "Taking Back Every Word That I Said" and "A Letter to Someone Like You" bring it down some. They're just sloppy-sounding songs. Anyway people have mentioned that this album sounds a little different from Suicide Notes. Actually, it sounds a LOT different because they use a much heavier guitar tone on this disc. I feel that all the songs on Suicide Notes sound watered down and weak, while on this disc they have a much hotter, fuller, and heavier sound. You have to hear it to fully understand. SO BUY IT. If you like the metalcore, this album is quite a bit more metal-sounding than Atreyu's full-length release. The versions on this EP are far better and it's a shame they changed their tone so much on Suicide Notes. It's truly bone-crushing here. Also check out the "Victory Style 5" sampler from Victory Records for a much heavier version of A Song for the Optimists.

Don't waste your money, July 20, 2004

This isn't real good value, so unless Atreyu are like your favourite band or something, skip this and get suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses, which contains 3 of these tracks, leaving only two that you are actually getting that you probably haven't got already.... It's a good cd though, each song iis good, except for one which is kinda repetitive. I strongly recommend that you buy Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses rather than this, I don't know about the new one, The Curse, 'cause I haven't got it yet!

amazing melodic hardcore, August 31, 2003

this is a great ep. it's a little more raw than suicide notes and butterfly kisses. there are two songs that are exclusively on 'fractures...' they are 'letter to someone like you' (which has some nearly death metal elements at times) and 'taking back every word that i said' if you're going to buy this ep. make sure you get it at a show. it's a lot cheaper... and i definitely recommend you see them live.
