Book Description

January 31, 2005
Fragments of a Formerly Active Sex Life is a brief poetic epic of a sexual nature, a searching examination of contemporary sexuality structurally modeled after Dante's Divine Comedy. The poem's lines are alternately erotic and philosophical, funny and hostile, argumentative and aesthetic -- but always fragmentary, broken. WARNING: STRONG SEXUAL CONTENT.

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

This is the second edition. The first was published by Gentle Scorpion Press in February 2002.

About the Author

The son of a professor and an ordained minister (the two occupations most likely to produce psychosis in offspring), Julian Darius holds an M.A. in English literature and has presented at numerous scholarly conferences. He is presently studying for his Ph.D. at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where he also teaches. He lives on the 27th floor of a skyscraper in Waikiki, where he dreams often of his sweet baby Tatiana, his parents' Welsh terrier who likes to kill squeekies.

In addition to being an award-winning author of prose and poetry, Darius runs two websites: his personal website, JulianDarius.com, and Sequart.com, the website he created for the study of comic books and graphic novels.

In 1996, while still an undergraduate, Dr. Julian Darius founded what would become Sequart Research & Literacy Organization, which publishes non-fiction and documentary films on comic books and promotes the medium as a legitimate form of art.

In 2011, he founded Martian Lit, which publishes odd and aggressive literature, non-fiction, art, poetry, and other material.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent and Erotic, April 8, 2005

This review is from: Fragments of a Formerly Active Sex Life (Paperback)
This is a stunning book of erotic verse. Right off the bat, it pounds you over the head with words that stir you to erotic thoughts. I hate poetry in general, and I couldn't put this book down. But BE AWARE: it is often the dark side of eros that is explored here... sexual obsession, fantasy, lonliness, and aggression. This is not for the squeamish. But it is for those with a penchant for erotic poetry that DOESN'T leave you bored!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Dante's Inferno of Sex, November 16, 2005
This review is from: Fragments of a Formerly Active Sex Life (Paperback)
Darius grabs the reader, and transports them to a world where flesh is currency. The narrative dives deep into the dark recesses of human sexuality and longing. This is an excellent epic poem.
