Brutal beyond belief!!,

Now come on you have to appreciate a band that will scream, and growl its guts out. As I lay dying is on the forefront of hardcore music and they are good at what they do. Tim is able to scream his way through the whole album and I believe he even has some clean vocals in a couple of songs so he can sing. Also this band is known for Jordan, their drummer who is able to use his double bass in a way that I have never heard. In the first song "94 hours" Jordan has a breakdown with the double bass and it is incredible how fast he is. People try to say he used triggers in the studio but I disagree because I saw them live and Jordan did that double bass part live so he is actually playing that fast. That my friends is incredible. I also appreciate that As I lay dying can be brutal and not use profanity or use sexual overtones. Their lyrics are nice and clean and they are still brutal. Tim is able to go from the lowest of growls to a high pitched scream which I love to hear. If you ever get a chance to see these guys live then do yourself a favor and do see them. They are incredible live. The other member of the rhythm section, the bass player is able to hold is own with Jordan and the two guitarists are pretty good, but Jordan steals the show. What is incredible is that these guys are still very young. They still have a lot of room to grow and get better with their instruments which is scary for other hardcore musicians. Watch out America As I lay dying is a force to not be reckoned with. Give them a listen. God bless.

I never knew Christians could kick so much A$$!,

This is one brutal cd. Not many clean vocals through the CD, most of it is all screaming. 94 Hours has to be my favorite song, followed by Forever. But the songs do get repetitive after a while. Has some replay value, though the listener may get bored after a while. All in all this is a great band and in the boundaries of Christian music it's one of the best.

first off thier are alot of people who call these guys rip off's or poser's or just a band that can't play at all. They are very very wrong. Frail words collapse is one of the best metal albums out there. Yes it is a metal ablum not a F*CKING HARDCORE ALBUM. Every song has break downs which fit very nicely into the the out of control music. 94 hours is by far one of the best tracks on the cd it's very fast paced with a few breakdowns and the drum work by Jordan mancino is incredible. Believe me this is not a bad album as other people review it to be. Their just death metal fans. And death metal f*cking blows by the way. But anyways.
This cd is just one of the best. alot of songs stand out from each other thier is maybe at least one similar aspect to them but they drift far from one another. falling upon deaf ears has some nice guitar work on it and yes the riff is just killer. Forever has to be one of the best songs on the album. the lead singer has some of the best vocal's you can hear. Very clear instead of your averge whinny ass screaming that sounds like the guy was kicked in the nuts. Trust me as i lay dying may seem like a emo band but thier not if you just understand thier backround then you will know thier not. Buy this cd it's f*cking sweet. every song kicks ass.

A must listen to,

I was looking for a good, heavy metal band that 1) didn't cuss (cussing in music sucks in my opinion) and 2) rock. My one friend who is a Heavy Metal guru introduced these guys to me and after listening to several tracks, I knew I had to buy this c.d.
It freakin owns. I aboslutely love the vocals, guitars, bass, and drums. Plus thier lyrics are awesome. They convey a message that is absent in alot of mainstream bands. I may be a Christian but I dislike bands that all they say how great God is but they don't do that and I love it. They talk about other matters and subjects though still loving God. In my opinion, this is a great album and band. Can't wai tto see them at Cornerstone Festival this next summer.

so im sitting in my room listening to this cd about five minutes ago (ive already had it for like two weeks) just going through teh cd again, when i get to "behind me lies another fallen soldier". tracks like 94 hours and forever had amazed me but in my opinion, this was the song that blew me away. by the way, the singers scream is amazing. its one of those screams taht you can tell has been perfected, and it thouroughly conveys the singers feeling. some other bands i like try to scream but you can tell the screamer has problems with it (atreyu). THIS IS NOT ONE OF THOSE BANDS!!!! and as a drummer, i think its pretty safe to say the drumming is amazing :-D. go buy it! happy listening

I'm not really under 13. I'm just too lazy to make an account. Anyway, Pete says people should listen to bands like Dimmu Borgir. May I remind you that they came out with the album entitled "Anal Sex on the Throne of King (something. Don't remember exact name)."
I can't stand to hear people parading their favorite bands as good metal and then absolutely shun other good bands. Like I can parade that I love bands like Hatebreed, Bury Your Dead, and Slayer, and then turn right around and say I hate Pantera and Megadeth. As I Lay Dying is a very good band, and I think this album speaks for itself. Pick up this album on site. You won't be disappointed (unless you don't like this kind of music).

As I Lay Dying proves that christian bands are just as good as the rest. I listen to this cd all the time! They do a great job of showing the "Gothenburg Melodic Death" sound. By the way, I have to say that, TRL #1 FAN IS AN ABSOLUTE MORON!!!!!!!! HOW DARE YOU INSULT IN FLAMES!?!?!?!?!? Look, if you like trl so much, why don't you go listen to ashley simpson, or even worse eminem. JUST LEAVE THE GOOD BANDS OUT OF IT AND SHUT YOUR MOUTH BECAUSE YOU OBVIOUSLY DON'T KNOW WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT!!!! As I Lay Dying is awesome, but I'd never dream of choosing them over IN FLAMES. Nothing personal to As I Lay Dying fans, I just like IN FLAMES more.

A new favorite,

I can't stress the greatness of this CD. For starters it's a death metal group, so the songs sound somewhat alike but if you're like me and am a hardcore music listener you'll probably pick out the differences eventually. I guess I'll do a run down of the songs. 1.94 Hours- their single and an excellent song, about a minute and a half in there is an awesome guitar/drum combo. And I ask myself how can the drum player play double bass like that? 2.Falling Upon Deaf Ears-A decent song, nothing really stands out but it was enjoyable. No complaints here. 3.Forever-Excellent song, I just love the chorus, this song is on the Headbanger's ball Album. Fast and it sticks. 4.Collision-Not sure what to say here except a fantastic song, very good lyrics (but of course they all have excellent lyrics) 5.Distance is Darkness-Basically the only song with "clean vocals" it's short, and the sort of punk sounding vocals at the end add the right touch to the song. 6.Behind me lies another fallen Soldier-Starts off slow but of course gets heavy. About giving everything for someone. 7.Undefinded-One of my favorites, starts off heavy and sorta has the same sound as a few of the others but about 1 or so in he screams "I long for this wind to cease" and they break down into one of the most badass riffs I've ever heard. Keeper 8.A thousand steps-This is a prett good song, it's short and simple. 9.The Beginning-Another favorite, I like the sort of punk guitar beginning and then switching to a rock sort of riff and overall it just works. I kept saying to myself "wow what is the name of this song?" 10.Song 10-Probably the lightest song on the album. The first 2 and a half minutes is instrumental and then it explodes with Tim screaming. A favorte. 11.The Pain of Separation- This song is good, has a few good riffs but other than that it's like the others. Some of the guitar sounds like System of Down :O 12.Elegy-Another favorite, the song starts out and continues throughout the 5 minutes with excellent guitar and drums. Couldn't get this song out of my head. Overview-This CD is top notch, if you don't mind a few of the same sounding things. But if you like this you'll forget about it and the music will just flow in. |
