5.0 out of 5 stars The best thriller score in many years, February 26, 2004
By
This review is from: Frailty (Audio CD)
This is the best thriller score in many years. The film is also very effective and is directed by star Bill Paxton. It is a very dark story and from what I have read in Paxton's liner notes, the score was written with more of a nod to film noir and the golden age of cinema than to other contemporary film composers. This showcases Tyler's composing skills as being well ahead of his peers. The themes of this movie score are unshakable.

only really wanted this for Johnny Cash. Don't need much else when it's hard to find a movie that at the end you can't wait to share with your friends.

This score matches the tone of the move perfectly. It is dark, haunting and creepily beautiful, though thematically I wouldn't call the movie beautiful ;-)

As an avid collector of film score CDs, Frailty ranks near the top of my list. Composer Brian Tyler has provided the original score for no less than 60 movies, and Frailty is easily his best work to date. The film's score is powerfully haunting, and Frailty would not be the fan favorite that it is without such a phenomenal musical backdrop setting the tone for each scene. I would stronly recommend this album to anyone that enjoyed the film, or is a collector of amazing movie scores.
