The Earnests have given us a very readable and gloriously illustrated book with attention to all the recognized fraktur types and many of the most desirable artists. This survey will delight anyone who has an interest in folk art.

I always appreciate when people who own several books on a subject point me toward the best one, and want to return the favor. This is definitely the best affordable book on Fraktur I own or have seen (I haven't seen the rare and pricy ones). Superbly illustrated with numerous, large, full color illustrations and thoughtful commentary. I think this book has more illustrations than text! Better to get this one than two of the cheaper ones.
