this is a charming book.
PBS recently ran a BBC episode of this book, which prompted me to order the book.
Funny, and a quick read.

I love this book! The characters are colorful and touching, and the story never wanes. It may not be the book for young or struggling American readers (or would at least have to be read with support), as the dialect differences need to be understood through context, but I think the majority of readers would really enjoy this story.

Pa's garage is going bankrupt, but the arrival of mysterious glamour cars at their desolate mountain somewhere in Whales enables the children to come up with lots of plans to find new sources of income. Very funny and inspiring for teens, and well-written.
