Review

"Smart, confident, and totally PUNK!" -- National Enquirer --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

From the Publisher

Franny K. Stein is not your average girl - she's a mad scientist. She prefers poison ivy to daisies, and when Franny jumps rope, she uses her pet snake. The kids in Franny's class think she's weird, wacky, and just plain creepy. Let your readers decide for themselves when they read these fabulously funny stories.

The Fran With Four Brains is book six in this great series of adventures following one of the most interesting and well written child characters to come along in a very long time. For those who have only read this great book and are wondering which of Benton's former books in the series to buy first, I'd recommend Jim Benton's first three Franny K masterpieces Lunch Walks Among Us, Attack of the 50-Ft. Cupid or The Invisible Fran.

I work as a library assistant and when I have asked kids if they enjoyed this and other books in this series the answer is always yes. That's pretty rare for a series of books, but this series is that good! I've checked these books out myself to see what all the fuss is about. These books all can be enjoyed by adults as well as kids, a feat not always done by junior fiction writers, even with the really popular amongst kids books. I didn't read these in order either as there's a long wait for some titles, so I'll point out they all have individual storylines so if this is the first book you've come across it can easily be read first.

Franny Stein is an interesting character who doesn't follow the stereotype little girl who plays with dolls, has tea parties with stuffed animals and the like that many authors seem to want to write about. No Franny is a very intelligent girl more interested in bats, snakes, spiders, monsters and her number one passion, being a mad scientist.

This book just arrived Friday, and my 6- and 10-yr-olds read it together (they usually fight like cats and dogs) because they couldn't decide who should get it first! Mom ended up joining the fun, and no one left until the whole book was finished! Any time the kids keep saying "Can't we just read one more chapter", I'd say "It's a hit!"

This is the sixth book in the Franny K. Stein series and it is just as great as all the others. My 10 year old daughter has been reading Franny K. Stein books for the past several years and has enjoyed this one tremendously. Highly recommended.

Franny K. Stein Mad Scientist The Fran With Four Brains By:Jim Benton

In this book Franny is the main character.

She is a mad scientist that has a lab assistant, that is a dog, and the dog's name is Igor.

Franny has to do all these different sports. She get's really, really tired after all of her sports.

To fix that problem, she makes four franbots for her three sports and one for at school, so she can spend more time with her lab assistant, Igor.

Read the book to find out if Franny's plan works.

I really enjoy this book and think that it is a five star book. And I think you would also enjoy this book if you like mad science.

My daughter just adores Franny! As do I! Franny is so odd! We love reading about her adventures to become a mad scientist. It's enjoyable to hear about her attempts to fit in with her classmates and also find time to destroy the world! We have passed these books onto friends and they all love them too! Franny is not just for girls! Boys love them too! The books are not just pure silliness though. Franny manages to learn a life lesson in every book. I recommend these books to friends and family all the time!

Franny K. Stein Mad Scientist the Fran With Four Brains is about a scientist (it tells how her lab gets her in a lot of trouble). She builds three .they all do different things like soccer, cooking, and playing the bagpipes. The story begins when Franny`s lab goes wrong. So now she has to build robots so she can go to school, and then the robots do the extra activities.

The characters in Franny K. Stein Mad Scientist the Fran With Four Brains are Franny, Franbot 1, Franbot 2, Franbot 3, Igor, and Franny`s mom.

My favorite character is Franbot number 3 because she was a soccer player. Franbot number 1 plays bagpipes. She has a lot of breath to blow into the bagpipe. Franbot number 2 is a gourmet cook. She has a laser had to zap things to cook them. Franny is a scientist, her room is her lab . She has a lot to keep up in her lab. Igor is Franny's dog; he is also her lab assistant .

My favorite part of the book is when Franny makes the robots. I also liked when the robots broke.

I recommend this book for fourth and fifth graders. it is a very great book.

If you are looking for an early chapter book that breaks the norm, give this series a try. Franny is a mad scientist that kids will love. Kids that enjoy creepy things will especially like this series.

When Franny feels overwhelmed with her school and extracurricular activities, she makes a few Franbots to take her place. When Franny decides the Franbots are too active for her mother, they hatch a plan to turn Franny and her family into food. Franny must find a way to stop the bots before they take over the world.

This is a super cute and fun chapter book with black and white illustrations on every page.

Content: Some mild violence (she destroys the robots)
