A survey perfect for middle school students of biographical achievement.,
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Frances Perkins: First Women Cabinet Member (20th Century Leaders) (Library Binding)
Advanced elementary through middle school grade levels will appreciate Emily Keller's Frances Perkins: First Woman Cabinet Member: a 160-page biographical survey of Frances Perkins, one of the earliest women's movement social reformers in American history who, at the start of the Depression, joined Roosevelt's cabinet as secretary of labor. Her contributions helped form plans to revive the American economy, and FRANCES PERKINS details her life, rise to power, and many achievements in a survey perfect for middle school students of biographical achievement.

A Woman Everyone Should Know.,
By
This review is from: Frances Perkins: First Women Cabinet Member (20th Century Leaders) (Library Binding)
Frances Perkins is a woman who very few people know about, but everyone should know who she was in history. Frances Perkins was the creator of most of our employment rules and regulations that we know today.
Although the book looks like it should be in the children's section of library, it is an amusing book for adults to read. I was so interested in Frances Perkins after reading the book, that I also purchased The Franklin I Knew by Francis Perkins. Both books are especially interesting in these economic times. Four stars Kim in CT.
