Be prepared to be blown away., January 28, 2005
This review is from: Franchomme: Cello Works / Franchomme-Chopin: Grand Duo Concertante (Sony) (Audio CD)
This is perhaps some of the most beautiful music ever written. Given the right circumstances you will "tear-up" when listening. Not all the songs pull on the heart-strings. The others make one to feel truly alive. To buy this is not like spending money rather, it's an investment in ones soul.

passionate string music (my stepping stone from freejazz to classical music), February 21, 2009
This review is from: Franchomme: Cello Works / Franchomme-Chopin: Grand Duo Concertante (Sony) (Audio CD)
Before this cd I mainly listened to choatic freejazz (john zorn, masada, pat metheny), bebop (miles, mal waldron).
This is my first classical music cd is actually a very logical next step from freejazz to classical music.
Everything about this cd is of excellent quality: performers, the music, the way it was recorded lets me enjoy the acoustics, of the wood and the snares (made from guts of pig apparently).
So now my poor neighbours have to suffer the screeching of pig guts in the night from my appartment. Well at least it is not freejazz anymore.
