Alright.,

I'd have to say that this game is not that bad, but is not that good either! The graphics are mostly good. The only really bad thing is that it is so easy! I beat it in two days. I didn't play it till a month after I got it because it has no storyline and is hard to get into. There are way better games out there, but maybe you will like it better than I did.

You must NOT quit the levels! The first 3 levels ARE lame. But after that the game gets interesting.Meow-Chow.com

I have to disagree,

I must disagree with you. The graphics are VERY good for a gameboy, and the sound is good, too. I think that the cars go pretty fast, and the reason the music "goes on and off", is because every time you pass a checkpoint, a short tune starts to play. If it crashed your GameBoy, (how?), use the waranty.

Being an avid fan of the arcade Rush 2049 machine, I could not pass this title up... I wish I had! The graphics are decidedly below par, the cars move at a snail's pace, and all the adrenalin-pumping action from the original is nowhere to be found. There is some decent digitized speech in the game, but the music itself is flaky and keeps turning off and on during the race, exposing you to the completely unrealistic engine noise. The powerups always drop back in the same pattern, there is no randomness at all... What upset me most of all though is that the game failed to unlock the second track after I finished 3rd (like the track start screen promised), and even worse, the race afterward (again on track one) it CRASHED my Gameboy! If you're looking for a decent overhead racing game, you should give Driver a try, it looks, sounds and runs MUCH better. My summary: the title does not nearly cover the game. For shame Midway, I know you can do better!

Background info:I work at a movie theatre, we have an arcade, and RUSH 2049 is one of our games. I've been playing it for TWO years now... And I have officially declared it the best arcade game ever. I decided to buy the Game Boy version of it, check it out... Play it whenever I didn't have 75 cents to play the arcade one. I was so excited when I got it in the mail. I looked all over the house for my Game Boy (hey, I knew I had one; that's why I got the game... FINDING it was another story...) and finally found it. Popped in the game and started to play. The music and start screens were pretty cool looking, and then I got to the race. My mouth dropped open and I just sat there and stared at the screen. I didn't know what to do. IT'S HORRIBLE! I'm sorry, for those who say it has "wonderful graphics" or whatever, what have you been playing for the past 20 years? ATARI?! Hands down, this game was lame. I was upset because I paid nearly $10 for it. It's horrible. If you love the arcade game (or even the 64/Dreamcast games) then DO NOT waste your money on this. It isn't even worth it. |
