4.0 out of 5 stars My Everyday Shoe
Over the past 4-5 years I have owned three pair of Franco Sarto Bocca's in Black Calf. I just keep getting them resoled when they start to look shabby. It's a great all purpose shoe, true to fit, though it can stretch if you need it to. This is the shoe I wear when I'm not in them mood for heels and/or I have a lot of walking to do. The only reason I purchase the next...

2.0 out of 5 stars Bocca Bust
I have 3 pairs of these loafers that I bought in 2004. I wear them so often and like them so much that I decided to buy more now that the originals are wearing out. So, off to the internet to find them, and to my amazement they are still available. I ordered 2 more pairs - oh the anticipation! However, I was so disappointed in the quality and feel of the new shoes that...

It's a great all purpose shoe, true to fit, though it can stretch if you need it to. This is the shoe I wear when I'm not in them mood for heels and/or I have a lot of walking to do. The only reason I purchase the next pair is when there is a deep scratch in the leather or the support in the back of the shoe wears out. Looks great with jeans, khakis or slacks. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best walking shoes, April 12, 2008
I first discovered Bocca ten years ago when I was in Boston, Mass. These are the best walking shoes I've ever owned. Sarto shoes run true to size. They look great and funky in straight-leg or bootcut denims. I walked all over Paris and Rome in these shoes without any pain. I alway put on them when I have to do a lot of walking, i.e., San Francisco. I have owned so far four pairs of black Bocca.

4.0 out of 5 stars Just what I wanted, May 13, 2008
By
Thank you Mr. Franco Sarto. Thease loafers were just what I was looking for. These shoes are high quality and sturdy. They were pretty stiff at first but after a few good wears, I painlessly broke them in. They are snug and don't flop around, (I have medium/average feet). They have a nice shine, but not too shiny. They are not slick against the floors or sidewalk, nor do they leave black marks on the floors. They go with almost any outfit. They are definately worth the reasonable price.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have 3 pairs of these loafers that I bought in 2004. I wear them so often and like them so much that I decided to buy more now that the originals are wearing out. So, off to the internet to find them, and to my amazement they are still available. I ordered 2 more pairs - oh the anticipation! However, I was so disappointed in the quality and feel of the new shoes that I sent them back! The quality has clearly gone down in the last several years - it's as if it's not even the same shoe. The amount of padding in the insole seems much thinner, and they are not nearly as comfortable overall. So, the quest for the perfect loafer begins again.

2.0 out of 5 stars Franco Sarto is cutting corners :(, June 9, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
First, I have to say, I love Franco Sarto shoes, and this is my 5th (yes 5th!) pair of this shoe. I walk long distances to work, and they are very comfortable and stylish (compared to walking downtown in gym shoes!).

Over the years I noticed the leather getting a bit lower in quality. This particular recent Franco Sarto shoe purchase is rather poor. The leather nearly looks like pvc, the inside is now all fake leather, it smells bad, makes your feel smell and slip & slide. The bottom insole is very cheap, glued in poorly. The material is "pleather", smells bad, makes your feet sweat and smell bad, in addition to a slip & slide type of feel. The heel is seems to be painted a slightly different black compared to the leather.

Overall, Franco Sarto's cost cutting is very noticeable. As much as I love this shoe, this will be my last pair. I understand keeping prices constant, but I would have rather paid the $10-20 more and had a better quality, truely "all leather" shoe.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not the same as the old shoe, September 11, 2010
By
Karrma (Seattle, WA USA) - See all my reviews
I have worn this shoe for years, resoling or replacing as needed, would buy it in any color available. Was expensive, never went on sale, our local famous shoestore would sell several a day. About 5 years ago, they changed the sole to softer, so scuffed the linoleum. Still stayed with them. Now they have cut the price in half, and only the outside looks the same. The inside felt terrible, there are seams where there were none before, did not fit well at all. I would rather pay more, for the old shoe, would not wear these ones if given to me. Cheaper, but not quality anymore. They were returned. Hopefully they will do an Original again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful, well made shoe!, May 8, 2008

MR (Philadelphia, PA) - See all my reviews
These are a beautiful and very classy pair of shoes. Another well made creation by Franco Sarto. They are a little stiff which makes them slightly uncomfortable but I think they will become more comfortable once they are broken in. The best part is the Amazon price! These shoes were priced 1/3 to 1/2 less than most stores.

5.0 out of 5 stars Favorite shoe of all time!, February 13, 2008
I'm on my third black pair and my second brown pair of these shoes. They have been my go to shoe for years. I wear either the black or the brown pair at least 4-5 days a week. My second black pair were eaten by the dog so even she likes them! I've had the shoes resoled to make them last longer. I also will polish them to keep them looking new. I find that they run about a half size smaller compared to other shoes. They might be hard to break in at first, but keep wearing them and the leather will stretch. This is truly a great shoe that is dressy when you need it to be and casual when the need arises. I love them!

1.0 out of 5 stars Loafer junk, September 24, 2011
I have 5 previous pairs of this loafer, in all colors and have loved, loved them . I recently replaced my brown pair with a new pair of brown ones. What I immediately noticed was the leather quality was different, felt like fake leather . I immediately noticed the inner part of the shoe indicated the shoe was made in China. All of my previous pairs were made in Brazil (superior shoe). Someone has made a mistake in changing where these shoes are made, the price has been lowered but not the same shoe. I will have to find a new "go to loafer" that manufactures a better quality of shoe. Very disappointed with the company as I have been a loyal customer for 10 plus years.

4.0 out of 5 stars Franco Sarto Bocca Loafer, May 16, 2009
I love these shoes! This is the 4th pair I have bought. I wear them at least a couple days a week to work, and they usually last about 2-3 years before the soles wear out and the leather starts to separate. I am pretty hard on them though, so I am impressed they last as long as they do. Once they break in they are very comfortable, especially now that they have added more cushioning to the insoles.
