The music that slept for too long, September 5, 2001
This review is from: Francoeur - Symphonies pour le Festin Royal du Comte d'Artois / La Simphonie du Marais · Reyne (Audio CD)
This recording has music
that has been dormant for
about 200 years. Have you ever
heard of Francois Francoeur(1698-1787)???
no? me neither!!!!But I guess that this is OK, because not too many people have.
The Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles,
takes care of reviving and recontructing old
baroque music to its original form, and instructing early music groups on performance.
The Centre recontructed most of the music in
this recording. The group here, is the Symphonie
du Marais, a group of early music performers
who specialize in performances of old lost
french music in its original form. The music here
is divided into three suites(or symphonie). The music
is performed with accuracy and knowledge.Hugo Reyne did
a wonderful job...
