5.0 out of 5 stars Paris in 1988!, December 26, 2001
Being in Paris for the very first time in 1988...Seeing a very striking video called "John" performed by an Artist named Desireless...thinking, "Is This A Man or Woman?"...I keep hearing "John" and "Voyage Voyage" as I wander about this fantastic city...Return to the States & order, via import catalogue, this amazing CD....It's 2001 and "Francois" continues to hold up incredibly well. If you like Euro-Dance/Pop that's finely crafted, extremely hypnotic with a singer that cannot be beat, you will more than enjoy this one!

4.0 out of 5 stars A very good album indeed..., November 2, 1999
By A Customer
Desireless is not a well known artist, and it's quite puzzling, because she had potential. "François" is a near perfect pop album with very good melodies, as some other (a few) are more or less interesting. The bomb on this album is without a doubt "Voyage Voyage": an anthemic pre-dance track which was a huge hit in 1989 here. The words depicted in this album are very influenced by images of this world and beauty of the nature ("Voyage Voyage" refers to many rivers: the Amazon, the Gange. Many races also are named. "Hari Om Ramakrishna" talks about deserts, insects, moon...). This album will always reminds me a lot of things and it will stay in my heart forever.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Voyage, November 13, 2001
By Alessandro Bruno (Toronto, Canada) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
i always wonder how musical tastes develop and why despite many similarities, North Americans and Europeans often differ, or appreciate differntly. this album exemplifies the problem. It was very popular throughout Western and Eastern Europe (when there was still a Soviet Union) yet hardly anyone knows it in North America. the singer's voice is soprano like yet without the vulgar shouting quality of many famous divas (Yes I mean toi Celine and You Whitney and Mariah) and the songs have depth as well as rythm not to mention the melodies (lyrics are also good). Voyage Voyage exemplifies this feeling and is probably one of the very best pop songs of the 80's and any other times. If you like good music you'll like this album. the style of singing is simalr to Emma Shapplin

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful dreamy dance-pop
Voyage Voyage was one of the biggest hits in the 80s Europe. I bought the CD because of that song, but was not disappointed with the rest of the album either. Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars The best song
I only give this album four stars, because I've actually only heard one of the songs, namely Voyage Voyage. But that song alone is probably makes it worth buying the whole album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely worth having
One of the best examples of the French Pop of the 80's. Very melodic, professionally composed and arranged, no cheap "dance-pop" flips so common in the 80's disco and... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars One heck of a neat thing...
French (the language) have always (well, quite often) been known for making good "traditional" lyrics. This album is not an exception. Read more
