I bought this bit a couple of years ago, loved it so much I bought 2 more. My riding buddy bought a couple and so did my DIL.. I haven't had a lick of problem with the hinges..

I bought this bit a while back and have really liked it so far. My horses seemed to really like it as well. Now on to the problem, I don't know if I just got a fluke of a bit or what, but I went out to ride the other day and found one shank completely immobile. I figured that it has just developed a bit of rust in the hinge, so I used some WD-40 and forced it around to "break up" the rust. Well, apparently, that wasn't the problem because that didn't help. It will swivel in toward the mouth, but not out away the way it should. I have no idea what could have happened because it was perfectly fine the last time I used it and I've not used it hard enough to bend anything.

All in all, I like the bit. It's a good, affordable alternative to a Myler bit, but the shank hinges could be a little better designed.

Update: Since I figured I didn't have anything left to lose, I took a hammer to this bit trying to fix the stuck shank. I suppose I bent it just enough to make it "right" again as the shank is now operating smoothly and I've not had any more trouble out of it. My Mustang is very grateful because this is his favorite bit.

Further update: The bit is still working smoothly and I can't complain about anything.

I thought, though, I would mention that this bit doesn't measure as a true 5" mouth. The actual mouth measurement from inside the cheeks from side to side is 5.5" so this bit works for larger mouthed horses as well.

I bought this curb bit for my 4 years old quarter horse, it fits perfectly.
I am living in France, no problem with the shipping, the delay was the one expected, no damage on the product....
Just perfect !
