About the Author
Glance into any St. Augustine gift shop or art gallery and you will immediately recognize the vibrant, colorful style of Francoise. Her broad, impressionistic brush strokes are reminders of a bygone era. Her family immigrated to America when she was a teen, yet she still retains fond memories of her early years playing hide and seek with her older sisters among the sugar plantations on the tiny Caribbean island of Haiti. Her skills as a painter were honed at the University of Michigan Art School before moving to St. Augustine. Not as easily recognizable, Rob prefers to remain in the background. His passion for photography started as a young teen with a Brownie box camera capturing the beautiful city of San Diego where he was born and raised. While serving more than twenty years in the Navy, he was able to upgrade equipment and capture many interesting photographs from the many foreign lands he traveled. In 2008 their paths crossed and as they say, “the rest is history.” She now bases many of her original oil paintings on many of his St. Augustine photographs; embellishing them with her unique style of texture and color.
