This concert from 1989 IS, without a doubt, the "Ultimate Event". Showcasing Liza Minnelli, the late and great Sammy Davis Jr, and the late and great King of class & croon, Frank Sinatra, it's just as much a thrill to watch the 20th time, as it is the first. The tape opens with behind the scenes footage of rehearsals and dressing room conversations with Sammy, Liza, and Frank. The concert itself is divided into 4 parts, each star having their own superb mini concert, giving them all a chance to show off their best numbers. Sammy is incredible when he does songs from "Phantom Of The Opera. He's also humorous when he imitates Michael Jackson. Liza is the youngster of the group, belting out all of her greatest hits, dancing circles around her co-horts, and dazzling everyone with her sequins. And Frank Sinatra is pure class as he croons out some his best tunes with pop and swing, the fantastic orchestra being directed by Frank Sinatra Jr. The last part of the show is all 3 super stars singing, swinging, and playing together in the grandest of finales. If this would be re-released on DVD, what a perfect tribute it would be to all 3 mega-stars.

This has been out-of-print for some time but shouldn't ever have gone out of print. Petiton the Sinatra and Davis estates to release this one! A fantastic document of a fantastic concert.

This video is a must for any music lover. It gives a magical insight into the professionalism of Sammy, Lisa and Frank and the stage show at Detroit is absolutely sensational.
If you can get a copy...do so!

I have all Sinatra video tape and dvd, but I think that the game in Detroit is one of the best popular musical performance that I saw in all my life.
I enyoyed listening and looking Sinatra¨s Mack The Knife, especially when he say : " But with this great bing band swinging behind me ....."
And what do you say about Liza¨s " Money, Money, Money ...
She is simply the best.
And Sammy, the fantastic Sammy singing that song that remind my the old times of the movies, "With a song in my hart".
And finally, when they beging to sing and dance together, the think becomes incredible.
I live very far, in South America, I don¨t speak fine english, but I think that the best homage to this three bigs artits, who gave us when we was young great emotion and tender moments in the cinemas, is to editate The Ultimate Event in DVD giving us the possibility to see and listen once more this big and unforgetable artits at this magnific actuation.

This show was one of the most remarkable ever put together. Three magnificent performers all singing their hearts out. It is worth the price just to see Sammy Davis do Michael Jackson for comedy and then launch into something as dramatic as Music of the Night. The interplay between Sinatra, Minnelli, and Davis are a joy to watch. I echo the sentiment that this should be released on DVD.

Absolutely the best. From the beginning of the performance to the end I was captivated to say the least. Sammy was no doubt up to the task of opening the show; if it had been a race we would have said he hit the ground running. And what can I say about Miss Minelli and Frank, they didn't miss a beat. When the three ended the show you knew in your heart that you had been treated to something rare.
I've been a fan of Mr. Sinatra since the 60's, 70's and 80's when I lived in the Philadelphia area. I always listened to Fridays with Frank on the Sid Mark show. Definetely a keeper.

I love Liza, and it is great to be able to see her in her prime. This video was in great condition. Thanks Amazon for making used items available.
