This was actually purchased for my mother who has cataracts and just generally old & tired eyes. She's incredibly happy with it and finds it incredibly helpful when trying to read small print, and sometimes even the computer monitor. Excellent product for the price :)

This magnifying glass is not used as a toy. I use it because my eye sight is getting bad and I have a hard time reading some things. I would have to say this magnifying glass needs more power. It needs to make things much larger. I't not bad just a little low on power. I have no idea what to look for to find one that makes things appear bigger.

I'm getting older and my eyes aren't what they once were, the pictures reproduced in the history/reference books I buy the most of seem to be getting smaller all the time! It was definitely time to purchase a magnifying glass and this one seemed to fit the bill. It's certainly inexpensive enough to try sight unseen, the only real reservation being a question as to image distortion. I've been using it for 3 days and am VERY satisfied, distortion is negligible and if manipulated correctly non-existent. I've been using it on some of my Richthofen books and the results are amazing, I am so happy with this item! If I had a gripe, and I DO, it would be the vendor (NOT amazon.com) REALLY NAILED ME ON POSTAGE, charging almost double what the item cost me. Call me "cheap" but I do enough mail order business to know when I'm being taken for a ride. Having said that, this IS a wonderful item, just give the next guy a break on the postage why don't you?

I was disappointed in this item. I did not realize it was considered a toy. I am having trouble with my vision and needed the glass to help me read. The lens was scratched easily.
