It is timeless...it is sweet...it is fun...it is jazzy...I love it....It is like take a ride on a star...on a supertrain to paradise...it is and always will be Frank...timelessly wonderful and perfect!

"Super Hits" is a half hour sampler of early Sinatra recordings. The familiar fare of "Nancy With The Laughing Face", "Begin The Beguine", and "Dream" is mixed with Frank's versions of songs that were made popular by two of his contemporaries. He delivers a sweet voiced version of Nat King Cole's "Nature Boy" and does a nice job on the Bing Crosby/Carole Richards hit "Sunshine Cake" from 1949. Frank's duet partner on this one was Paula Kelly.
Also worth noting is the CD's closer "Castle Rock". It pairs Frank with his first big band boss Harry James as the two reunited on record one more time in 1951 for "old times sake". Sinatra and James seem to be having a roaring good time and just about any listener will too! |
