In the 60s his colourful 'Protractor' series and geometric shaped canvases became some of the most distinctive manifestations of postwar and Minimalist art. In the 1970s Stella went 'maximalist', producing multi-media works, often using lumps of aluminium and steel, which were vivaciously and complexly three dimensional. A new, special edition, completely rewritten, and many more illustrations.
