We have had a Franke ceramic Triflow water filter as a part of our Franke kitchen faucet set for almost seven years. It filters the water very well.

About every six months the flow goes down to unacceptable and for years we replaced the filter-they have cost as much as $85 depending on the source. And it always takes at least two or three times re-tightening the outer case before there are no drips. Sometimes more tries to get it tightened just right, very frustrating for so simple a device.

So here are two things I have discovered:
1. Teflon pipe tape applied to the threads of the outer plastic filter housing avoids drips first time every time. Make sure to wrap more than one layer thick-I use about three.

2. The filter does not always need replacing. Often it has just been a build-up of small particles on the outer surface of the filter where the water enters the ceramic structure to be filtered. It looks like a layer of fine rust/dirt particles. The functioning inside of the ceramics is not clogged at all-the water just cannot get through the outside layer of particles to be filtered.

I wash the filter cartridge under the faucet until the outer surface is sparkling white again, and then reinstall it. The result is like a new filter. After the reinstall I run the water for two minutes before using the first time just like when installing a new filter. The net result is we are saving at least $80-$160 each year with no change in the quality of the filtered water.

I replace my Franke water filter at least twice a year. The price I paid with this supplier was a lot less than ordering it directly from Franke. It arrive in just a few days and was not a knock-off. I'll be back to Amazon again for this item.

This filter system produces deliciously clean water. Make sure you follow the instructions for conditioning and letting it sit for 24 hours before use. Having done it wrong in the past, it makes a big difference to condition it correctly.

Used some of the aftermarket filters. Went back to Franke original product since it lasts longer.

This filter was factor-quality, perfect -- Meeting or exceeding all expectations. I got this via Amazon for about 1/2 off -- for prices I've seen it elsewhere. It arrived on time, installed easily, and I will likely buy these in bulk (via amazon) next time. Good deal -- buy, buy, buy.

I bought the filters from HeredomUS, 3 at a time to always have them handy. They were delivered within 3 days, in perfect condition, well packaged. At a reasonable price at $60.20. I am really pleased with HeredomUS!!!! Great service!!
I never buy the filters from Franke direct anymore because of their $85 pricetag. But I buy the Franke brand, not some knock-off.
I love this filter system and the filters, even though they are pricy. The water tasted amd smells fresh, no chemical or off taste - without the filter our water is really not drinkable. I use the filtered water for cooking vegetable, rice, noodles too. For a 2 person household the filter lasts more than 6 months. I have gone as long as 9+ months. But after that I get nervous (even though the water still tastes as fresh - but the flow is definitely slower) because If the water did contain cysts or other contamination I would not want to keep the filter too long past its recommended life.

The system was installed while we remodeled the kitchen, 12 years ago, and has not failed us. It is compact and changing filters is super easy.
The manufacturer recommends running the water for 10 minutes after filter change. And then not to use it for 24 hours to condition the filter to the local water. Instead I ran water through the filter without installing it first and then kept it in a tall container, covered to the top with water. After I installed it the next day I ran the water for 10 minutes into a 2 gallon container (for flowers - since we always face drought in California). I timed it and after 10 minutes I had not quite drawn 2 gallons.
All in all, I can't think of any other system I would rather use - and we have tried various ones.
No cons for this product.

We've used Franke filters for years and always felt they did the job well. So when the plastic mount failed, we went ahead and replaced it with an expensive metal one. Hopefully Franke has stopped selling the cheap plastic version, but people stuck with these may experience a leak or worse when they go to replace the filter.

We have a Franke drinking water tap in our kitchen. I'm not sure why the filters can't be purchased in common chain stores. I always need to go to a specialty store or do mail-order. Anyway, the last filter I had was not an official Franke filter. I wanted to try it. It did a great job of filtering, but unfortunately it lasted just a couple of months. Unfortunately, I don't remember the manufacturer's name. The real Franke filters seem to last for a full 6+ months, and that is what I'll buy henceforth. Water tastes MUCH better, and less chlorine smell. Wish it would also remove flouride and other junk chemicals the city adds to the water---unfortunately not.
