2.0 out of 5 stars Great trashy movie, but...
...wasn't this supposed to be UNRATED? The only version of this available on DVD on Region 1 is R-rated ... Granted, from what I understand, the difference is just a matter of a little more nudity. But still, aren't DVDs supposed to be more definitive than this? Not to mention the disappointing lack of any real extras on this disc. Oh well. There's supposedly an unrated...

#1 rocky horror picture show #2 attack of the killer tomatoes Finally we come to one of the funniest horror(whore?) movies of all time. the acting is terrible!, but you must appreciate it for the low, low budget they had. from the begining, the main character is poking at a brain with a big eyeball in it, and his girlfriend just goes along with everyday life. it wonderful. all the action starts when she gets run over by the lawnmower that her boyfriend made for her father as a birthday present. the boyfriend decides to "collect" hookers with the right body parts to form a new girlfriend. he invents a "super-crack" to kill them,

----one of the greatest plot elements in any movie i have ever seen---EVER!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious horror comedy!, June 12, 2007

Jeffery is a busy man who experiments on many things and was happy having a fiancee named Elizabeth until a tragic accident happened one day. She's been sliced to pieces, Jeffery has only one solution and it's to bring her back to life again. He goes out to New York City to look for some prostitutes and use a special experimental crack to make the hookers literally go out with a bang, he stitches all parts together along with Elizabeth's head then use lightning to resurrect her as a sleazy minded hooker who can literally kill men during sex but can Jeffery snap her out of it or will she be a sex-crazed undead killer?

Entertaining and over-the-top horror comedy from Frank Henenlotter (director of "Basket Case" and "Brain Damage") brings another winning combination of laughs, splatter and sleaze galore. The acting is kind of bad but there is a twisted sense of humor here such as a exploding guiena pig after smelling the explosive crack's smoke or perhaps the funniest ending since "Some Like It Hot!", this is a sidesplitting and sexy comical horror movie that is guaranteed to leave you in stitches.

This special edition DVD has the unrated uncut version and nifty extras like commentary by Frank Henenlotter and make-up artist Gabe Bartalos, theatrical trailer, interview with Patty Mulen who played Elizabeth in this movie, three featurettes and photo gallery.

Also recommended: "Street Trash", "Re-Animator", "The Toxic Avenger", "Bride of Re-Animator", "Frankenstein (1931)", "The Monster Squad", "The Brain That Wouldn't Die", "Basket Case", "Class of Nuke'Em High", "Brain Damage", "Deadly Friend", "Pet Semetary", "Cemetery Man", "From Beyond".

5.0 out of 5 stars FRANKENHOOKER!!, November 25, 2006
This review is from: Frankenhooker (DVD)
Frankenhooker, it just sounds like a good time, doesn't it? I've been waiting for this dvd for a long time now. I saw this film way back when it first came out. Most folks who also saw it back then might remember the cool vhs box that said, "Wanna Date?" when you pressed it. That was a great little gimmick, wasn't it? That kind of thing was never done much, but I do remember the box for the movie The Dead Pit(which sucked by the way, or at least it couldn't live up to it's cool cover) which had the puffed out 3-D zombie on the cover who's eyes would flash green when you squeezed the box. If anyone can remember any more of those cool vhs boxes, let me know. Anyway, I was confident that Frankenhooker would hold up after all these years and it still does. Frankenhooker is the kind of film that Drive-in theaters were made for. As the title suggests, this isn't a movie taking itself seriously. It was directed by Frank Henenlotter, the B movie crusader who brought us Basket case and Brain Damage. If you've seen either of those films and thought they were dumb, you might as well stay away from Frankenhooker coz it's in the same vein. Frankenhooker herself doesn't show up til about an hour into the film, but that's all fine and dandy coz there's enough bare breasts, exploding hookers(and guinea pigs), musclebound pimps, huge crack rocks and head drilling to keep you entertained. Plus the zany, mumbling performance by James Lorinz as the mad doctor really carries the movie along. He's got some pretty damn funny lines, especially in the scene where he's inspecting the hookers. Frankenhooker herself is an amusing parody of Elsa Lanchester's Bride Of Frankenstein performance. For the mostpart her dialogue consists only of lines used by the hookers who's body parts have all gone into constructing her. It doesn't really make sense that she would do this(or that men would explode when touching her), but who the hell is watching this for scientific accuracy? Definitely worth viewing again if you haven't seen it in a while. Also definitely worth viewing if you want a good time. Hell, my wife even liked this movie! Though I must say the price tag on this one's a bit high considering what's on the disc and all(a couple of interviews and a commentary. Nothing THAT special), but I guess it all boils down to how much you want it. It might be worth it if they'd have made the dvd case talk.

4.0 out of 5 stars Take it from Bill Murray..., July 5, 2004
This review is from: Frankenhooker [VHS] (VHS Tape)
The copy I rented had a quote on the back credited to Bill Murray that read: "If you see one movie this year, see Frankenhooker." It turns out that the statement was most likely made with only mild sarcasm. Frankenhooker is damned funny. I thought it might be cute, but I had no idea it would be this good. This is what good, low-budget schlock is all about. It's smart, it's funny, and most of all, it's FUN.

I almost gave it 5 stars but I try to be extremely selective with that rating. If you're like me and have thought about checking out Frankenhooker before but then thought again, think thrice and rent the damn thing. You might decide you want to own it.

There's supposedly an unrated PAL DVD out there, which is nice if you happen to have a PAL-compatible player. Maybe someday a DVD company that actually knows what it's doing will release this in its full uncut glory, with some extras to talk about.

Well after recently watching "Brain Damage" I began to like this guy Frank Henenlotter. This is one of the most unique movies I've ever seen. A little about the story: Jeffrey's girlfriend Elizabeth suffers a terrible misfortune at the hands of a lawnmower. Jeffrey saves Elizabeth's head, and goes in search of other body parts to put her back together. He makes super crack and some hookers smoke it and begin to blow up. He then uses their parts to rebuild Elizabeth. The hookers pimp Zorro becomes suspicious and goes after Jeffrey...
This is truly one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. The best movie I've seen in a while, and I've seen a lot. This is one of the most, if not the most unique horror comedy I've ever seen. If you are looking for a movie with an interesting story, plenty of nudity, and lots of exploding bodyparts, then look no further...Frankenhooker is here! I would also recommend Brain Damage (if you can still find it). Hope my review was helpful. This is definetely the funnest movie I've watched in a long time. Oh and by the way, it is a region one NTSC DVD.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Labor of Love, July 23, 2008

This review is from: Frankenhooker (DVD)
Good old Frank Henenlotter.
The man who brought us Basket Case 1-3, & Brain Damage,
offers up a movie, that asks alot of intriguing scientific questions.
Questions like:
Ever wonder what you would do if your wife were horribly mutilated
by a remote-controlled lawnmower.
Would it be possible to resurrect her??
What if you didn't have too many "whole" parts left??
Could you use some spares from the local brothel??
Would you kill to get the parts to bring her back??
Have you ever wondered what a room full of exploding prostitutes looks like???
Can inserting a power-drill into your skulll really help you think??
And the ever popular;
What are the side effects of Super-Crack???
For the answers,
and to see a human leg launched like a missle,
check out Frank Henenlotter's "Frankenhooker".
It'll make make you laugh 'til you cringe.

MORAL OF THE STORY:
Love knows no boundaries........logic included.

5.0 out of 5 stars Supercrack + exploding hooker's + Bride of Frankenstein = cinematic genious., November 24, 2007
This review is from: Frankenhooker (DVD)
After losing his fiance in a horrific runaway lawnmower accident, mad-scientist Jeffrey Franken must figure out a way to re-animate his lover's mangled corpse so they can be together again..............but how? How else? SUPER-CRACK!!!!! That's right, he does what anybody in his situation would do and invent's a highly addicting and explosive form of crack cocain, feed's it to hooker's who explode in a firework's dispay of raining limb's, collect's their body part's and stitches together his dead lover. The only question is, will Frankenhooker be able to quit her life of turning trick's and super-crack, or is it too late? Watch to find out.

Truly a classy movie, what type of class you ask? _LOW_.

It has exploding hookers, a substance called "super crack", killer lawn mowers, trepanning, and archetypical pimps, what's not to love?

Unfortunately, the movie breaks down a bit at the end. But still something well worth watching a time or six.
