This review is from: Story of Frankenstein Dracula & Wolfman (Audio CD)
The first story, Frankenstein, is the best of the three, as the storyteller gives graphic descriptions and creates an intense atmosphere. The storyteller has the same voice as the crater faced villager from House of Dracula. The second story, Dracula seems to go nowhere with very little imagination to keep your interest. The Wolfman is the worst of the bunch. It's told by a woman, who by my standards, isn't very good at voice acting. Then of course there are the sound effects at the end. Not very scary. Have heard better elsewhere. I recommend Famous Monsters Speak over this.

I loved the cd, it's most like the old movie monsters of Universal Studios, and I was so happy to find the stories on a cd bc I just about wore my cassette tape out!! So I was elated when I got it!! It's just like I remembered, now I can have it on my player all year round LOL!!!

This is actually a well done spoken word stories with sound effects CD. As an audio book it does well too, but it does have more sound effects than a regular read. Even though this is new, it does sound like the old monster stories albums of the early 1970's. Anyone who enjoyed those will find things to like in this CD. This is not a re-issue of the old Power Records version however, which came with a read-along book. You can get a version of that one on cd from Something Wicked Prod dot com and it comes with a CD sized version of the booklet too!
I would recommend the Story of Frankenstein, Dracula and the Wolfman for nostalgic souls and children, but there is entertainment enough in the stories for anyone who enjoys audio fiction. |
