5.0 out of 5 stars CAREFUL, December 7, 1999

If you haven't heard Gavin's The Maid Behind the Barrel, or The Humours of Galway ( De Danann version q.v.) you're missing some of the finest recorded performance in the Irish canon... but it gets very hard to pick up a fiddle afterwards, so be warned. Play the whole album and prepare to deal with a state of joyous, uplifted shock. And the man records so little..

Frankie Gavin is an astouding talent, and this collection is a sheer joy throughout. He's absolutely brilliant, and I can't recommend this CD highly enough.
