5.0 out of 5 stars You'll play it again and again...
I had heard that DEAR FRANKIE was a special film, but what I didn't expect was how beautiful the music would be in it. The soundtrack has lovely piano solos that have a rippling and rolling tone to them. There are a few vocal tracks interspersed--sometimes with Frankie's voice-over narrating a letter and some songs that are entirely vocals. The vocals have a nice folk...

3.0 out of 5 stars Key songs are missing
After watching "Dear Frankie" on cable several times, I decided to buy it and the soundtrack album. I did not read the detailed list of songs before buying. Although the soundtrack is good for what it is, I was disappointed that the song "Delicate" by Damien Rice was not included. Nor was the song about the "white horse" that was sung twice during the movie, once by...

This review is from: Dear Frankie [Original Motion Picture Soundtrack] (Audio CD)
The vocals have a nice folk quality that don't detract from the instrumentals.

I loaded the soundtrack into my MP3 player twice--once with and once without the vocals. When I want lilting background music I put on the non-vocal version and hit "repeat."

The film DEAR FRANKIE is wonderful, with a sweet sadness to it that stays with you for days. That emotion is brought forth in part by the beautiful music. It is a must-have CD for anyone who appreciates excellent composing and piano & guitar performances.

4.0 out of 5 stars Damien Rice, September 4, 2005
This review is from: Dear Frankie [Original Motion Picture Soundtrack] (Audio CD)
This cd is missing a lovely song by Damien Rice, called 'delicate'. In the movie it plays during the beach scene where Frankie is attempting to skip rocks.
Just thought i would share this piece of information.

Although the soundtrack is good for what it is, I was disappointed that the song "Delicate" by Damien Rice was not included. Nor was the song about the "white horse" that was sung twice during the movie, once by Lizzie and once by the club singer. It would have been nice also to have the "Macarena" song which was in the movie.

4.0 out of 5 stars "composer Alex Heffes & Arvo Part ~ Dear Frankie", March 8, 2005
This review is from: Dear Frankie [Original Motion Picture Soundtrack] (Audio CD)
Silva America presents "Dear Frankie", the soundtrack and film score...featuring composer Alex Heffes extraordinary music cues and selections from the film by Clarksville, Obi, Arvo Part and Jesse Harris...all in all is a wonderful listen for "film-score-buffs", not to mention the impact on the film.

A few highlights come to mind "FRANKIE READS" and "THE FINAL LETTER", both cues composed by Alex Heffes, captures the essence of the film and storyline...another stand out is "SPIEQUEL IM SPIEQUEL (EXTRACT)", featuring Arvo Part, who incidently has always been a classical favorite of mine...each cue is worth the price for your every growing collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful, sensitive, sad and hopeful., January 20, 2007
This review is from: Dear Frankie [Original Motion Picture Soundtrack] (Audio CD)
I stumbled upon this quiet little movie and feel like I've discovered a wonderful jewel. I was immediately enamored by the soundtrack and worked hard to purchase it right away. The music along with a few dialogue excerpts communicate much of the emotion and power of the movie. There's one song that was, regrettably, not on the soundtrack but I recommend be added to the CD or your collection: Damien Rice, "Delicate" from the "O" album. The music communicates such a sense of loss and longing while maintaining just enough of a glimmer of hope that you end up feeling alright.

It's a wonderful soundtrack and definitely worth the purchase.

I have just watched this movie for the third time this year. If this film doesn't do anything for you...you're dead (or at least dead inside). Emily Mortimer...Gerard Butler....Jack McElhone....all fantastic. An incredibly touching and romantic movie. I only wish they had ALL of the movie music in the soundtrack cd. The wonderful ballad written by Buck Owens -"The Great White Horse" added so much to the dance sequence, and the mood of the movie. They didn't give the woman credit who sang the song;I would have even liked Emily's version. What a shame.

I really loved the movie and especially little Frankie. There where three songs that just stuck in my head for weeks, so I bought the CD... unfortunatly out of the three songs, only one was on the CD... I was alittle dissapointed but overall it is a good CD. I really like Jesse Harris. He is the best on the whole CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Movie full of hope and understanding., June 24, 2010
This review is from: Dear Frankie [Original Motion Picture Soundtrack] (Audio CD)
Encouraging movie about a single mother whose endured much but has found a compassionate man who seems to have deep understanding of why she is like she is. Don't we all, man or woman, need hope.

The music just takes me away from my every day life and off to the Scottish shore. Wonderful blend of instrumental and vocal arrangements. If you've seen the movie, you'll recall each and every scene. Like the line in the movie, "it takes my breath away...every time!"

This is an excellenct movie. Wish the movie makers out there would do more like this. It is moving, very relatable, loving, caring, shows what a mother would do to protect her child.
