In re to installing these types of bath fixtures, careful measurements must be taken so that the bars, rods, and other parts attached or inserted into the brackets fit properly. First, assemble the entire unit including the bracked holders that will be screwed into the wall or other surface. Position the unit and make a pencil mark in the CENTER of each bracket. Using a carpenter's level, make new pencil marks above or below the initial marks. Now take the unit apart and install ONE bracket (left) holder to the wall/surface but DO NOT tighten the screws. The distance between the two bracket holders should measure the same as the manufacturer's drawing marked from the CENTER hole of each bracket holder. If the bracket holders are too far apart or too close together, the unit will not fit properly. Now install the LEFT bracket onto the left bracket holder but do not tighten the screws yet. Again, take the assembled unit and hold it against the wall and measure the RIGHT bracket position again. Is your measurement exact? If it is, install the RIGHT bracket holder but DO NOT tighten the screws. Now take the towel bar or other item you're installing and insert it into the LEFT bracket. Attach the RIGHT bracket to the end of the bar/item and fit it onto the RIGHT bracket holder. Test to see if the bar/item fits snugly. If it does not, loosen the screw(s) to the bracket holders and shift until the bar fits correctly. Once you're certain the bar/item fits correctly between the brackets, all screws can be tightened. Always use anchors in hollow wall installations. When attached correctly, your fixture should remain tight and in place for many, many years. If it loosens, tighten the the tiny hidden screw. These directions are basic for all hidden screw fixtures. Hope these directions help!
