I am a 7th grader and I cant spell to save my life (not even spell check can help me sometimes) I would put so random letters in my words to the point where a half an hour later I did not know what I wrote. But that stops know.... with the spell check I can spell words better and impress my teachers with my amazing knew vocabulary. I also get to learn to spell better by having the option to put misspelled words in a spelling list so I could study them. And with fun with French and Spanish. A very worthwhile item for anyone. I love it! (PS I had to edit my spelling with the spell checker on this review.)

Purchased for an eight-year old, she found the operating instructions and the various functions very difficult to learn. Spelling vocabulary seems quite limiting as some "near misses" didn't generate the correct spelling. Display screen dosen't have enough pixels, so individual letters have a "choppy" image which can be difficult to read depending on lighting and angle of view. Not recommended.

Received in excellent condition. A little difficult to figure out at first without written directions.

This is great. It does what it says, does it well, and I've had no problems.

The lid is a tad on the flimsy side, but nothing horrible.

I purchase one of these for my son after reading all of the great reviews. He loved it, but it stopped working after one week. You could only see the letters if you held the checker at a certain angle, otherwise you could only see rectangles where the letters should be. We returned it for a replacement and the same thing happened the second day we used it. This is for the model SA-209. I don't know if it is a quirk with this model or not. We may try our luck with a different model as it was very helpful on the few days that we could use it.

This comes in so handy when we need to know how to spell a word.

I have no idea if this is a good product or not. It did not come with batteries and I am busy and I keep forgetting to buy them when I am out, so I have never used it. For the price it should have come with batteries. That alone makes me disappointed in the product. Most calculators come with batteries or they are solar powered-why not this?
