Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com

Franklin is wholly endearing. He's afraid of the dark, he commits to things he shouldn't, he's jealous of his friends, he makes assumptions about people. In other words, he completely embodies what kids are like and about. This video presents two episodes from the television series, which began on CBS and has been a staple of Nick Jr. In "Be My Valentine," Franklin and Snail take great care to make valentines for the entire class. Franklin becomes distressed when his valentines are lost--he worries that those who gave him valentines will want them back since he no longer has any to give. But his classmates show him what friendship is really about. "Franklin's New Friend" Moose is a little intimidating--he's so big! When he and his classmates make assumptions about him, and Franklin is paired up with Moose at school, he learns that looks can be deceiving. With its cute, captivating characters and its sweet, easy-to-relate-to stories, this Franklin video is a winner. The animation perfectly captures Paulette Bourgeois's stories and Brenda Clark's illustrations--and series may just encourage its young viewers to begin to pick up one of Bourgeois's 40 books. (Ages 2 to 7) --N.F. Mendoza

From the Back Cover

Episode One - Franklin's Valentines

During the classroom Valentines party, Franklin makes the distressing discovery that his handmade cards were lost en-route to school. Franklin is moved by how understanding his classmates are and decides he'll celebrate their friendships in a special way.

Episode Two - Franklin's New Friend

Franklin has known all his friends all his life. He has never had to make a new friend -- that is until a new family moves in and little Franklin is paired up with a six foot moose.

5.0 out of 5 stars Franklin's Valentines, October 1, 2000
By
This review is from: Franklin - Franklin's Valentines [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Franklin is a lovable turtle who you and your family will fall in love with. The innocence and kindness off all the characters make this video acceptable to any set of values to any family. Every child will enjoy sharing Franklin's important moments. In this episode Franklin learns about friendship and how to express it to his classmates. He uses promblem solving and learns how to compromise. My kids love this movie and as they laugh and watch intently I feel safe in the innocence of Franklin and his friends setting a good example for them.
