5.0 out of 5 stars NIV 570
Hi everybody,

This electronic bible is exactly identical to the original book of NIV. It gives me more encouragement to read the bible as it's handy and very convenient to take with you.

I would recommend to every Christian especially those who can't bring the book and yet you can just slid it in your pocket.

1.0 out of 5 stars Number keys don't work
The NIV-570 let's you add a note to a Bible passage. I tried out two units, one from Amazon, the other from a local Christian outlet. Both had the same defect: when making a note, you cannot enter numbers, only letters. If you want to add a note, "See Exodus 20", you have to settle for "See Exodus". I called Franklin's 800 help number and the gentleman I talked to tried it himself and said I was right, he then called an engineer who also tried it and confirmed it cannot be done. I also sent them an email, and the response confirmed the the number keys do not work when entering notes.

2.0 out of 5 stars Reading more than a verse is frustrating., February 10, 2008
This review is from: Franklin NIV-570 Holy Bible, New International Version (Office Product)
This is my second electronic Bible as I really like the compactness and convenience of a small unit. However, this Bible was not meant for you to read a chapter at a time as the verse lines don't flow from screen to screen. At times three lines will roll, or two, or just one. This is frustrating when you are trying to read through the Chapter. My other Franklin Bible did not do this and you could read going from screen to screen very quickly without adjusting where you left off. I am not sure if this problem is only with my unit or with all of them. It appears to be a programing problem. May be worth your time checking it out before buying. I am looking for another one.

The manufacturer's quality is also superb as its sturdy.

C'mon buy now this electronic bible and give it as a gift to those who are lazy bringing the big thick book "NIV".

Praise God for having this kind of invention to meet people's demand.

In Christ,

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the earlier model, November 4, 2008

I was very happy with the NIV-450. When it was stolen, I decided to "upgrade" to the NIV-570. The first NIV-570 I received was defective, which Amazon replaced. The second had the same defects (mispellings, frequent freezing up, etc.). Franklin replaced it with a third that doesn't have the obvious defects but still scrolls slowly and is not as easy to use as the NIV-450. I am now contemplating buying the NIV-450 once again and giving the other two away.

I use this as a compact concordance. Very helpful. The only thing I wish I'd paid attention to were the comments about lack of back-lighting. "Who needs backlighting?" I thought. Turns out... me. If it is dark-ish, light enough to read a book, but still dark, you can't see the screen. Or, I can't see the screen. It may be better to spring for the back-lit model? But I'm very pleased with the product.

This was purchased as a gift for a pastor. He found it easy to use and helpful in finding sources. The concordance helped in study and the print size and clearity of the screen made reading confortable. In all a valuable tool that fit in a shirt pocket when folded.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very nice for on the go!, November 20, 2008

FOr those that say you can't read chapters at a time needs to take a few moments to figure out how it actually operates. Once you navigate through the help screens you can scroll easily from page to page. The only negative thing about the device is that it needs a back light for the screen. You can't read it if you don't have any light. Beings it is digital it should be easy enough to add a back light screen.

Oh and I do own it and use it every day at work and on the go!

IT'S SUCH A GREAT IDEA...A BIBLE YOU CAN CARRY IN YOUR POCKET--WITH QUICK SEARCH.

PROBLEM IS, AS YOU USE IT, ITS LIMITATIONS ARE OBVIOUS.

1. THE SEARCH IS PICKY AND NOT TERRIBLY ACCURATE. YOU ENTER 5 WORDS FROM A VERSE..NO LUCK. IF YOU ENTER THE 6TH WORD, BINGO!

2. NOT BACKLIT SO YOU HAVE TO VIEW IN DAYLIGHT(OH WAIT, YOU CAN'T SEE THE SCREEN IN BRIGHT DAYLIGHT)OR IN A NOT-TOO BRIGHTLY LIT ROOM (OH, NOW IR'S HARD TO SEE...)

3. 2 SHORT LINES OF TEXT DISPLAY. DREAM ON ABOUT SEEING ENOUGH TEXT TO QUICKLY DETERMINE IF IT IS THE SCRIPTURE YOU ARE LOOKING FOR.

STILL, FOR THE PRICE AND WITH LIMITATIONS IT IS OK. PRICE IS FAIR. NOT A GREAT BARGAIN, BUT FAIR.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Value, January 31, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Franklin NIV-570 Holy Bible, New International Version (Office Product)
Having a Bible in my purse is security in that it is always with me for my guidance, comfort and support whenever and wherever I need it. Since the Franklin NIV-570 Holy Bible, New International Version is lightweight and relatively small compared to a Bible in book form, it easily fits into my purse. The full keyboard, word topic search, book/chapter/verse search, and daily devotional features allow me to have God's word front and center in a few seconds. Instead of endlessly flipping through the pages, forgetting to take it with you, or leaving it somewhere, put one of these in your pocket or purse. The sword of God will be at your side, arming you against the foes of evil. The money that I spent for this electronic Bible is the best value to me -- my peace of mind.
