4.0 out of 5 stars Good for the price
We bought this for our 5 & 6 year olds, and for the price it's been a fun toy. We set it up in our basement, and the kids play with it whenever Dad watches the hocky game on TV. Mom and Dad try to get down on the ground with the kids and play sometimes too, but we usually end up playing on our knees because the sticks are so short. I wouldn't recommend it for kids much...

2.0 out of 5 stars Sticks too short!
Goal is fine, but the sticks are meant to be played with by kids on their KNEES. That wasn't clear to me when I bought the product.

I wouldn't recommend it for kids much older than this because the set is on the smaller side.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product but cheaper to buy double set, February 27, 2010
This review is from: Franklin Sports NHL Mini Hockey Set (Misc.)
Well made and lots of fun. Our kids take skating lessons and go to NHL hockey games. So this is a great way to channel that excitement and energy at home. These can take the abuse and should last for years to come. Fun for parents, too. I am admittedly not the tallest person, but it is no problem to just bend over (going down to my knees would probably hurt more).

We purchased on sale at the local sporting goods store (Sports Authority, I think) for fifteen dollars, and Target sells it for twenty.

Each set comes with the net, one right-handed stick, one left-handed stick, and two balls. We found that certain bottle caps (like from Ensure drinks) work well as pucks.

NOTE: If you are starting from scratch and want two nets, this looks like an even better deal:

Franklin NHL Set of 2 Mini Hockey Goals

It comes with more than twice the equipment (also includes goalie sticks) at less than twice the price! Plus the nets are foldable and it even comes with a carry bag.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Fun!, June 7, 2011

This is a great mini hockey set for practicing skills. Check out this video for a better idea of what type of shots and skills you can practice. Since it is mini hockey it's great for indoor use. Just make sure to move breakable items out of the area of play if players might get boisterous.

This is a great starter set. Pretty durable. Note that the two sticks are each designed to be one right and one left handed shot so if your kids shoot only a certain way, you might want to buy other sticks.

We bought this for my 2 year old that always wants to play with big brother's hockey stuff. I debated on just buying a short stick and his own ball but decided to try out this set thinking they could find a use for an extra net. They play all to time! It's a new favorite.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun-even for a 2 year old, July 3, 2010

I bought this for my son for his 2nd birthday. We are big hockey fans...and really wanted to begin teaching him more about the game. The net is great...perfect size for him. I think it will work even as he grows. My only complaint is about the hockey sticks. Its great that it comes with 2 (one lefty & one for right-handed)...but they are hard plastic. So, I usually put them away when his friends are over. We use our soft hockey sticks instead. Otherwise, we are pretty happy with the purchase!

This was a present for my 2-year-old who LOVES hockey. He and my husband have played with this set everyday since Christmas. The sticks are a very durable plastic and very realistic looking. The net is big enough to be usuable, but lightweight enough that my son can move it to wherever he wants to play. The balls are brightly colored, which helps to find them after some wayward shots. Overall, a very good purchase. Would definitely buy again.

Being that my family and I are huge hockey fans, I bought this for my nephew for his 2nd birthday. It's the perfect size for him to start playing around with hockey and getting the hang of things. Just a simple fun toy for him. He loved it right out of the box.

This set has been a great addition to our house for my hockey-obsessed 2 year old and his older sister. They've provided hours of fun, and held up really well. The sticks are the perfect size for them, and the nets have withstood a beating!
